I count 27/49 = 55%

I'm sure that will change, but our depth chart has a lot of "or"s.

Serious question:

Butch is going into year 3, how is UT still so young? Was there literally nobody in the recruiting class the year before he got there? If 75% of the team is underclassmen, it's almost like Tennessee had a recruiting class somewhere along the way that literally had zero people in it.

I know Arkansas has 2 seniors on the 2 deep for defense and 6 seniors on the 2-deep for offense.

Lots of juniors.

Tennessee
SR - 6
Jr - 7

That is 13 out of 44...so unless I've missed any, UT is 70.5% underclassmen in their 2-deep

According to this depth chart there are 20 upperclassmen in our two deep.

But there are 52 players listed because of some Or's for close battles.

LINK

That means 61.5% are underclassmen.

But two of those or's are doubled back up young guys so really it would be 20 out of 50 which is 60%

So I'll say 60% of Vols two deep are underclassmen.

This seems much more realistic than 75%. Especially with the lack of UT players getting drafted recently.

According to the link I posted here are the following upperclassmen listed in this two deep that includes 52 players and not 44.

QB - JR - Josh Dobbs (starter)
WR - SR - Von Pearson (Back up)
WR - JR - Marquez North (Starter)
WR - SR - Jon. Johnson (Back Up)
TE - SR - Alex Ellis (Back Up)
OL - SR - Kyler Kerbyson (Starter)
OL - SR - Mack Crowder (Back Up)
OL - SR - Dontavious Blair (Back Up)

DL - JR - Corey Vereen (Starter)
DL - JR - Latroy Lewis (Back Up)
DL - JR - Danny O'Brien (Starter)
DL - SR - Owen Williams (Starter)
LB - JR - Jalen Reeves Maybin (Starter)
LB - JR - Kenny Bynum (Back Up)
LB - SR - Curt Maggitt (Starter)
LB - SR - Chris Weatherd (Back Up)
CB - JR - Cam Sutton (Starter)
NB - JR - Malik Foreman (Starter)
S - SR - Brian Randolph (Starter)
S - SR - Max Arnold (Back Up)

Shows why our D should be feared this year but the O could still have a few growing pains.

Upper classmen potential SR. Starters Marcus Jackon-OL and Laderell McNeil-S not listed due to their season ending injuries.

That's insane, it's not bullshite when Jones says we're a young team. Not an excuse either, tho.

That number isn't right 60% is much more accurate.

We HAVE tons of upperclassmen all over our D.

Our O only has three upperclassmen starters to I think you can still classify them as "young" but when almost all of the sophmores that start played last year and our QB is such a mature JR in Dobbs I think the O is OK too.

This is a mature "young" team.

Butch has been processing the fluff from both of those classes as he progressed and has only kept the best players from the leftover Dooley years and his first three classes.

It's been a top down and Bottom up rebuilding strategy and it really has worked beautifully.

The roster is so night and day better since 2013 it is incredible.

Amazing how the media feels Mississippi state is young and inexperienced.

Sure. The depth chart released for tomorrow's game has 63 players of which 24 are upperclassmen (8 seniors) while 39 are FR & SOPH: 61.9%.
