There is no other way to compare the teams overall when teams when there is so many different factors people on here want to pick choose to count. Teams are ranked year to year by how good they are compared to everyone else.

SEC championships definitely are irrelevant when some teams have been in the conference for years and years longer than others.

Oh good, that means we're #1 all-time since you brought up AP rankings and we have the most AP titles.

your post was a direct reply to a UGA fan.

Not sure which one of my posts you are talking about, but I haven't argued anything about Georgia's placement in the OP.
Merely said that I thought TN might be a little high due to recent history (and boy did that start a shite storm) and that I hope we solidify our spot in the top 25 (which in reality, we probably already are) with a solid year this year.

Tryng to claim UGA is in a higher tier historically than AU is grasping at straws, especially considering how successful we've been recently and UGA's track record the last 30 years. But I'm sure it must suck to see us take a former CB and win an SEC Championship with him as our QB, when you guys, pardon my pun, can't sniff anything of the sort.

Georgia's in the middle of the Big 6 while y'all are the caboose.

I never said Bama wasnt up there. I was talking about what should be used to determine how everyone is ranked.

I think your list is pretty good. There are certain details you're leaving out, like all time greats elevating certain programs as an example. From a national perspective, there aren't many programs that have had iconic, all time greats like Bo Jackson and Cam Newton walk through their doors. That is what I feel propels Auburn into the top 10-15 with the others you mentioned.
Honestly I think every top team in that list had its fair share of iconic players. Alabama had Joe Namath, Ozzy Newsome, Ken Stabler
Tennessee had Peyton Manning, Eric Berry, Reggie White.
And so on and so on

here is a site that compared all the AP rankings. Giving 25 points for 1st place and 1 for 25th and totaling them all up.

soooo...your only criteria to rank teams all time is by assigning them a point value based on where they have finished in a poll that is decided by media members.

Got it!

Well that's how they rank teams. Take it up with the system. People and media also decide who played for the Championships.

The teams with more SEC titles than Auburn, have oddly enough been in the SEC, just as long as Auburn

yeah none of the 4 noobs have won it at all so that point was completley irrelevant.

What's also funny is that prior to cam newton enrolling on the plains, AU only had 1 more SEC title than ga tech who hasn't been in the league since the early 60s.

I think Ole Miss had more till this century. And Ole Miss decided they were done winning titles, back in the 60's

Let's be honest, we do pretty damn well for ourselves with us being in the same state as Bama. Only Big 6 member that isn't a state school. But to answer your question, we'll take it anyway we can get it.

You're a gump no matter what, it has nothing to do with what you say. Here though, you're trolling.

Auburn should be mixed in with LSU, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. With all the stats you claimed to have used Auburn is squarely in the mix with those teams, beating some and losing to others. To put us at 'Top 20' while those other teams are at 'Top 15' implies separation and doesn't reflect the stats you, yourself.. listed.

This from the guy who trolls UGA constantly.

You might want to watch talking them down too much. They are the only thing yall have to hang Richt's tenure on.

So, you defend Auburn by saying we beat you regularly while Richt was here?

It's a shame yall only have a one game advantage over a team so bad through history.

Nobody claimed Auburn was bad. Just that you were not top 15 out of...what? 300+ schools of all time history? And that is one game advantage head to head. It's like 20 games overall. In fairness, I don't know which of the schools have played more games, though.

Dude. We're not the ones trying to find some obscure web site that might have our team ranked higher than our rival. You are. And college football did not start 29 years ago, now did it? We beat Auburn in almost every category worth looking at all time. You have one National Championship more than we do, I believe. THIS is what makes Auburn so superior to us?

Tell me something. It doesn't bother you for any of the others to be ranked ahead of you. Just Georgia. Why is that?

Thanks, Hawgeye. It might mean more coming from you, an impartial source.

FWIW, I had an uncle )Passed away) that lived in Little Rock and was a HUGE Arkansas fan. Used to try to irritate my brothers and I by calling on the telephone and yelling "SOOOOOOIIIIEEEE!"

I miss him. He was a great guy.
