How will Georgia or LSU making a title run effect the SEC?

I think that it would make things even worse for some coaches. The trend of instant success would only be amplified more and leave lesser schools even more thirsty. Butch would be canned because life championships just won't mean as much. Sumlin would taking the swapcopter to a new location. Bert would be looking for a new buffet. And Dan will still be living off being number 1 in 2014 because MSU is realistic and know that winning 8 games is reasonable for them. Also Malzhan would be ousted if Georgia beats them and goes to the playoffs(depending on how they did against Bama and LSU).
Seriously though, I think it could happen just looking at past trends.

When Alabama, Georgia, Florida and LSU are operating at full potential, the SEC is the best conference in the nation by a mile.

honestly, you can swap Georgia and Tennessee and get the same results. The SEC needs a strong eastern division and no one is stepping up

I'd put some (or most) of the blame on Urban, but they should have come back by now

You should actually blame Fulmer and the UGA administration.

One of these teams is not like the others.

This is actually a good point. Any new hire coming into the SEC would have some outrageous expectations placed on them.

The expectations were lofty already. If O or Kirby continue the trend it is only going to make them worse.

You have a case for at least 2 of those coaches being tossed, success or no success from LSU/UGA if they don't succeed themselves.

IMO, Alabama, Florida, LSU and UGA have the four highest ceilings of any programs in the league. I say Georgia over Tennessee or Auburn because of the insane amount of in state talent in the state for recruiting.

A&M is up there too.
aside from coaching limitations (that can be fixed), A&M has too much recruiting competition in their home state and they don't seem to attract that much out of state talent.

Good chance atleast 2 out of 3 of these will happen this year. Auburn picking this year to cut ties with Gus could be a bad move because A&M is the better job, iyam. (*I know nothing about there administration, fwiw). Also in Tennessee, just like Butch always says, the brick foundation is there.
At Arkansas, the fans would never back picking up Gus but I would not be the least bit surprised if we went HUNH with an unproven.

Recruiting hasn't been Georgia's problem.

Interest in SEC football on a national level has fallen off the past few years.
Part of it is probably just general SEC fatigue following the run of dominance but part of it is everybody not named Alabama falling off making the conference chase less interesting.
