Serious question (not trolling) but when was the gashing. I do not remember it and the stat line shows 129 yards on 35 carries for the team.

Henry had 8 carries for 100 yards for a 12.5 yard per avg. They couldn't stop Henry. However, we kept running Yeldon. Who had a 4 yard per avg, but different type of runner.

ETA: He had a 40+ Rushing TD and a 60+ yard reception TD (that harmonics had mentioned in the above post)

I'm guessing this would be a low scoring game...at least compared to expectations.

OU's weakness is OL and BAMA's strength is DL (IMO).

OU's D is much better at facing a BAMA type offense than one like Clemson.

I think both Coker and Mayfield will have issues in this game.

We had lame duck OC Nussmeier two years ago. Not having him now is a plus for Bama.

Mayfield gets rid of the ball quickly and moves very well. Crazy that he has walked on and started at two schools. He will be the difference, one way or the other. I've seen both teams live this year. I take Alabama by 3.

Bama is like 2nd in the country in sacks and oklahoma is 113 is sacks allowed. Bama is 1st in rushing defense. Bama can contain the run and rush the pass equally well, and our secondary is vastly better this season, the only downfield success anybody has had is on miracle and illegal plays. We are going to play old school, punishing d and punishing running game, with play action and bootleg sprinkled in, and some coker scrambles for good measure. Oklahoma would be tough, but i like our chances. We are most likely going to play the big10 champ in round 1 though, because the big 10 championship game is going to put the winner at 3rd. We would play the winner of clemson/oklahoma

IMO OU is the best team in college football right now and I don't see how anyone can stop Mayfield. How do y'all think Bama matches up with OU?

Last I checked, Bama still has a game to play this weekend before we start looking at other games.

Mayfield may not finish the game

I don't know about that. You really think the Sooners will be up by that much to pull him in the second half? I think Bama keeps it close.

Honestly, Our Def should be fine at stopping the run and bottling up Mayfield. If neither of those things happen it will greatly decrease our chances.

I would imagine OU comes out firing quickly, maybe run some new formations like Auburn did in the IB to throw us off.

I would have to expect OU to be ready for our workhorse Henry but can they stop him, that is just something that will have to be seen. No manner of talk can predict that.

It will be a tough game, OU will have some success, it may come down to ST for this one. Our kicker has finally become good so at least we have that going if it does come down to kicks.

At the end of the day, any playoff matchup is a toss up this year. Great parity in CFB.

I would pick Alabama over Clemson/Mich State, but Oklahoma has been looking pretty scary lately.

Mayfield: 34 sacks taken this year (6th most in the nation in sacks taken)

Alabama: 41 sacks forced, 3rd in the nation

That's how. Their Oline is going to get eaten alive.
I had no idea about that. Tim Williams will have a monster game if that's the case.

It will be a tuff game for both teams. BAMA D will hold up. As usual QB play will be desiding factor. Everyone will be healthy and rested. Kiffin could be the difference with some time to prepare. Bama won't be scared and neither will OU

They won't. They'll lose just like they did two years ago. Just like they let Urban take their manhood last year.

Wow, an LSU guy.....after the last few weeks......talking about "taking manhood". I guess if you can't beat em, talk sh!t about them.

Same. OU's defense I think is very underrated. Striker is a really good linebacker, and they're pretty physical up front. I like Alabama's match-ups with Ridley, Stewart, and Mullaney against their CB's. Defensively, if Alabama can gang tackle Perrine and get OU in 3rd-and-long situations, I think Alabama can win it. If OU gets into 3rd-and-manageable, they'll have Alabama's defense on its heels, making them guess what they're going to do next.

This would be a great CFB game.

The OU pass rush treated AJ like a rag doll 2 years ago in front of his mom and his girl. Would the same be for this year with Striker coming at Coker from the edge?

I can definitely foresee a Coker pass getting picked off by Zack Sanchez.

Been following OU since 99' and this year's secondary ranks near the top in being one of the most elite, arguably at the 2000-2001 Sooners level. In my opinion, I foresee Coker throwing at least 2 picks.

Henry will no doubt power through us, but unlike the Auburn game, OU will counter offensively by not subbing key personnel for passing/running plays which will mitigate Bama from being able to consistently send in defensive replacements as often. The same group of OU offensive dudes will stay on the field and the 300 lb Bama beasts will be gassed by the end of the 3rd unless Saban burns a couple of timeouts throughout.

Unlike our two previous Heisman trophy winners in Jason White and Sam Bradford and even the runner up Josh Heupel, all 3 were great Sooners and elite college QBs but ask any OU fan and they will tell you we've never had a Baker Mayfield type of QB. The kid has football swag and speed and I've never seen Bradford break tackles and elude defenders like Mayfield. Mayfield has the "It" factor and unless Bama knocks him out of the game, him, Sterling Shepard, Dede Westbrook, and even Joe Mixon will get theirs against your secondary.

But ultimately, OU is a college football blue blood with rich history and tradition that us Okies are very proud of. The difference between this years team and that 13 season team is OU knows they're elite and can compete with the best of the SEC.

This is a great thread, I read this site daily. And from the previous three OU-Bama match ups since 2002, Bama has a great fan base and travels well, much respect.

Well on the flip side how can OU stop DH2 now when he absolutely shredded them as a Frosh???
