If we make some assumptions here based on the news out of camp for those schools who still have QB battles going on and we name Hurts (Bama), McIlwain (USC) and Eason (UGA) as starters at their respective schools, this is the SEC QB picture with stats included for the more unproven/first time starters

Florida- Del Rio 141 yards 0TD
Tennessee- Dobbs
Georgia- Eason 0 yards 0TD
Vandy- Schurmur 503 yards 5TD
Kentucky- Barker 364 yards 1TD
Missouri- Drew Locke 1332 yards 4TD
South Carolina- McIlwain 0 yards 0TD

Alabama- Hurts 0 yards 0TD
Ole Miss- Kelly
Arkansas- Allen 188 yards 1TD
LSU- Harris
A&M- Knight
State- Williams 434 yards 3TD
Auburn- White 1166 yards 1TD

Those 10 teams combined amount to 4,128 passing yards and 15 touchdowns. The other 4 starters on this list..... 14,333 yards and 101 touchdown passes.

Of course, this list makes the assumption that 3 true freshman would be starting for SEC teams which may be unlikely. Bateman, Orth and Lambert are still in the mix at their schools. And unproven doesn't necessarily mean bad. At this time last year, Chad Kelly had 58 career passing yards and only 1 touchdown to his name.

Very much a question mark. Saban whiffed at quarterback recruiting imo a couple of years ago so our best option may end up being a freaking true freshman.

Plus Harris and Knight may not belong on the "proven" list. They certainly have room to improve their games in 2016 but compared to the rest of the SEC, I guess they belong in the more established grouping.

It's a formative year for Barker. Plenty of high end potential and excellent weaponry at his disposal in the backfield and wide out. I'm sure there will be plenty of ups and downs.

Looks like a lot of the unproven QBs are underclass men , so things could be a lot different in 2 years. What makes this QB class seem so bad is that Kelly is the only good proven QB and the other 3 haven't shown they could actually pass the ball. I would take half of the unproven QBs over Harris , Knight and Dobbs any day.

When Brandon Harris is ranked in the top third of SEC QBs heading into the season...that's all you need to know.

Allen, Knight and Eason will be the best of the new QBs...mostly because of offensive scheme. Knight and Allen are veteran players. Eason will have his freshman moments, but he looks damn good

And at the end of the season, people will be scratching their heads and asking "how'd Bama win another championship with an unknown at QB?"

The Bama QB situation is just weird that there is not one veteran guy to take the position...lots of recruiting stars

Amen to that. Maybe not after this year...we have a lot of unprovens, but after Harris and Barker are done I'm quite certain I'll be glad we had Barker. Harris is a placeholder.

Allen is not a veteran player, he's just much older than most rookies.

I agree the Bama qb situation is unusual. It has to do with Saban's process. The truth is the qb is simply not as important to Bama as other schools. Saban does not want to rely on one player to win. It is hard to argue with his success.

What's bad is Kelly will be middle of the pack by the end of the year.

It's cool that you'd take Barker over Harris and also call him a placeholder, but IMO, that's a narrow view. Too many people pay attention to media with hot takes and raw stats, and not the games. Harris was nowhere near as bad as people act like he was. He also didn't have much help on the play calling, receiving, and blocking end, even after he had to play with an injury. That'll change this year though as well as his own individual improvements.

LSU's pass offense is going to suprise people in a good way this year.
