How successful has your school been against top ranked opponents?

I hadn't been on the ESPN CFB page in months so I was skimming down just about every article for the past week or so and came across an article about Ohio State and VT. Said VT was 0-8 all time vs. #1 teams.
Got me wondering how successful the rest of the SEC has ever been against the likes of the top ranked. So for the sake of the offseason..........

I know when Tubs was HC i would feel more comfortable going against the #1 team in the nation, than I would going against a unranked opponent

Had our first win over an AP #1 team ever last year when we beat Bama. We're something like 1-11 All-time

Wasn't LSU a #1 in the Sugar Bowl in '57?

Our first was against 'Bama in 2010. Similar overall record too. Interestingly, I recall hearing that it was the first time we were facing a number 1 team in decades, which I found surprising since we played UF and UT throughout the '90s.
Maybe it was hosting a #1 team?

ETA:Just checked and that game was actually in Williams-Brice, too.

Was it Lee Guess that blocked that punt? He's a hometown kid.

I think it was Jarrod Powers who blocked it and Tre Smith that picked it up and scored

Is this only against the current/end of the season #1? Top 5?

1960, and no, LSU was not #1.

Maybe it was AP or some shite I only remember because it was "SC Day" on the SECN and that game was on and they mentioned it.
eta: Maybe it was win over top 5 team, which was against #3 UNC a while back.

I'm pretty sure Bama was #1 when MSU beat them 6-3 in 1980.

Well...we've been ranked no. 1 several times and consistently beat ourselves. Does that count? Cause if it does our record is awesome.

We're 58-92-4 against teams that were top 10 at the time and 40-113-4 against teams that finished in the top 10.

Bama was undisputed #1 before we beat them. They hadn't been beaten in like two years, or something.

Alabama wasn't ranked #1 in the AP Top 25 when you beat us. We were #3 when we played in Oxford on October 4.
We had moved up to #1 in the Coaches Poll in the bye week before we played ya'll. But we weren't #1 in the AP until after we had beaten Mississippi State.
