I don't think the SEC East champion counts. In fact, winning the East right now is probably comparable to finishing 2 or 3 in the West.

As a student during the Stallings era, I felt like we went and lost to Florida/Spurrier about 47 times.

LSU went to 5 in an 11-year stretch from '01-'11.
Of course with the "decline" being real and all, we'll have to wait til Dec. 2015 to go to another....

Dude was consoling his team. Don't be silly.
Point is I think he thinks this team did things right. He wasn't so kind to, say, the 2010 and 2013 teams.
He wanted to recognize them for the hard work.
