President? I heard everything he asked for was shot down. I'll look for the thread.

Chancellor Cheek wouldn't let him have Loften, if that's what you're referring to.

I'd be very surprised if Dooley left over something like that.

I can see UT winning 8 games this year. I just cannot see UT winning more than 9 games for a few years, and I'm not sure if the fans are willing to settle for that. This is all JMO.

8 or 9 wins and they are a lock for the preseason top 10 next year considering they'll be returning 18 or 19 starters.

Dooley would be expected to produce then.

Source Thread

Sports talk radio in Knoxville:

If what I’m hearing is accurate, and I’m believing that it is, then Jimmy Cheek is in the process of remaking UT’s athletic department to fit a vision of a university that will be more athletics with a heavy emphasis on academics. And more than one source over the weekend told me that people on campus within the athletic department are concerned about where things are heading. To give you an example, sources tell me Derek Dooley is extremely concerned with this turn of events with Cheek. I was told he recently had a meeting with Cheek where he voiced his concern over a laundry list of requests including asking the university to play ball with him on letting a player into school. And I was told that Dooley was rejected on ALL of his requests. According to multiple sources, Dooley has even appealed to big money boosters over this but has been told that Cheek is in charge and they won’t intervene.

Is Jimmy Cheek your Chancellor? (I thought it said Jimmy the Greek at first.)

8 wins is a stretch for this team. Possible, but very unlikely.

No one on their d front 7 returns if Jackson is out.

Offense is talented, but all underclassmen. There will be UPS and downs.

I'll say over just because of the recent history at UT.

If he keeps his players graduating and out of trouble (relatively speaking) while simultaneously winning 8-9 games per year, he will be around for 5 years before the fans get tired of mediocrity and another guy comes in.

I do not believe that Dooley has the head coaching ability to win the SECCG in this conference of uber talented coaches.

That being said, if he continues to have disagreements with the AD, or if he has a losing season this year, then that number changes quickly. If he wins less than 8 next year he's gone.

Over. Hard to see anything to criticize him for, especially considering the situation he walked into, with recruits knowing he was far from being UT's first choice.

That's what I'm predicting. I'm not gonna try to predict the 2012 season until I see how the Vols are playing this year.

Exactly he was left in the worst situation possible.

It was the worst for winning in 2010. After he salvaged the first recruiting class, 2012 didn't look so bad.

He was a solid assistant coach and I think in time he'll prove he's a solid head coach jmo.
