He's already gone. Everyone I've talked with in Fayetteville, wants him gone. Unless him and Jen are blowing boosters, he'll be fired on late November.

Nope, Jan 2 2018 unless he finds a new job on his own like he's been encouraged to do...

This is correct. Negotiated buyout is coming.

What does the buyout drop to at that point?

11 over 5 years, depending on salary offset probably less than 2 mil a year in all likely hood and that is assuming he starts over as a coordinator.

It drops to just a bit over 11 Million at that point. It is payable over the life of the contract which expires in 2020. It will have to be a negotiated buyout. Can't wait until January to make a move. Recruiting would suffer and the coaching carousel will have stopped with no suitable candidates left available.

Not true at all.

Similar logic is you fire Miles early in the season and then you find the only person who will take the job was his D-line coach.

There are a lot more possibilities in November than there are in January.

Possibilities are the same, the search and negotiations do not begin when Bert is officially fired.

The wording in his contract is likely the same as Smile's was where he can be demoted, meaning he can officially be fired on Jan 2nd when the buyout drops after being demoted to an off the field coaching position or it may be worded that his paid salary for the year offsets the 15 million from the start of this year meaning the difference is the same on top of 11 million if he's fired in November or January.

The local media should be able to FOIA his contract and read through this wording to find out exactly what the wording it, Bert, his agent, and Long know exactly how it works so that's all that matters in the media's mind and they get to drum the "15 million" line which gets a rise of people leading them to call into their shows, buy their papers, etc, it isn't fake news, but it isn't the entire truth either.

I remember all the Hogs fan slobbin ol' Bert after that illustrious Texas Bowl win over Charlie Strong and 6-6 Texas. My how things change.
