Now, I'm asking this question in a different fashion than it has been asked before, and here's why and how:

We have to feel good about another SEC team winning it all again this year. We'll start the season with five in the Top Ten, correct? Bama, LSU, Florida, Georgia, SCAR not necessarily in that order. A&M will probably make it six I guess, I dunno? Or will Florida not be in the Top Ten and A&M will be? I guess that's possible.

Any one of those five could win it all - we have to agree on that, correct? (Not counting A&M, they will not win it all this year, no chance imho.)

So here is where my question differs.

Let's assume, no, better yet rather than assume let's just ... well, yeah, let's assume the Conference wins our 8th in a row this year if the Lord is willing and the creek don't rise.

What is your team looking like in 2014? I know for a fact SCAR is going to be better in 2014 than this year, even though I think we have an outside shot this year, I said most of last year that 2014 would be our year because we were so young last year, and will still be young this year.

Bama is constantly reloading, as is LSU ... both will be primed for a run in 2014.

I can see Georgia and Florida both being stout in 2014.

A&M in 2014? I don't know enough about them to say. That will be JFF's Junior season, right?

Okay, so 2014 leads-up-to the first playoff. The Rose and Sugar will host the semis and the Cotton will host the Championship Game.

Shouldn't we be able to see far enough ahead to feel good, as a Conference, about continuing the streak through 2014 (by winning the first playoffs in January of 2015)?

After watching all of the qb not named AJ for Bama, 2014 will not be our year. Not really fair to Bateman though who saw little time and just arrived on campus.

I don't know about 2014 for bama, LSU, and possibly A&M.. all three will have new Qb's if JFF goes pro after this year.. I think that might be a year for a team from the east to win it all.

ND probably was one of the best non-SEC teams in the country, so that's an indicator of the current gap.

I am curious to see how OSU does this year when the outcome of their games actually means something. IMO it's a lot easier to win when there is no pressure, so it will be interesting to see if they are really as good as they are "supposed" to be.

If it does last forever, and it very well could with the playoff system coming, then the rest of the college football world will eventually hate us ... oh, errr, wait.

I'll add this. I'm plenty old enough to remember the UCLA dominance days of basketball when the Wizard of Westwood owned college basketball. I remember when it started in the early sixties and I remember it was not until after I was out of college that it ended in '75. I even remember watching Digger Phelps and Notre Dame with Shumate and that crew break their regular season winning streak. Remember it like it was yesterday.

Point being, it is getting close to that sort of dominance by the SEC in terms of how the rest of the country views it. And they like to say, "oh, but if it wasn't for Bama the SEC would be nothing," but when they say that they are just in denial.

If the SEC can win ten national championships in a row, even if the first eight are technically MNCs for lack of a playoff, then the hate is gonna build like nothing we have seen since the UCLA basketball heydays. And the beauty of SEC football is that it's not just one team threatening ... it's several, every year, and that's never been done before in college sports except for maybe So Cal in baseball in the 60s but they had the deck stacked in their favor back then.

The problem the league now faces is that both divisions have three teams that can beat each other.

It's getting tougher (as crazy as it sounds) to go undefeated in the SEC while the other conferences have only that one heavy team as a standard bearer who cn go undefeated.

If the streak ends, it ends because an SEC isn't in the Natty. I don't see an SEC team lose on the field.

Well with the playoff coming up, I dont see that being much of a problem.

The SEC has enough respect from the college football world that a one or even 2 loss SEC team could still be in the top 5 amongst some undefeated B12, B1G or P12 teams.

I agree, plus OSU lost some good players, some leaders off that team. And Urbie was new up there so the other coaches will do some adjusting during the off-season. But OSU is still gonna be competitive, no doubt about it.

The question is, how soon can Urbie turn OSU into an SEC type football team? Can he recruit the size and speed - he's having to come South to try to do it already.

Oregon? With the Nike money maybe?

Fair enough. This year that could be a problem.

Yeah but have you seen their schedule, then consider the B1G isn't particularly strong right now? It wouldn't surprise me if Urban/tOSU run the table up to the BCS CG.

I was concerned last year...... I still remember watching videos of bama fans celebrating after KSU and Oregon lost on the same night.

When we beat Bama, I knew we had fricked the conference. Then Oregon and K State choked later that night.

I knew then that Bama was in league with the dark spirits.

Very concerned about A&M this year or very concerned about the SEC continuing "The Streak" this year?

Either way, how come?

A&M will be the second highest rated SEC team to start the year.

I have long thought that Saban sold his soul to the devil.. One would think he would find a little enjoyment in winning all those damn championships and making all that money

I'm on a high with our team. Defense is a weakness but its all good.

I meant I'm concerned that the league will eat its own this year.

Bama could beat us, then LSU beats them. But we beat LSU. or any iteration of that. Same for the East teams.

Hell Vandy and the Rebs could do damage.

This league has so much talent that even the "bad" teams can make something happen on a given weekend. Now, there's no true parity in the SEC yet but it's close.
