I meant he won a national title with FSU as an assistant. His hire was pretty big.

Duke's women's soccer team is legit this year. They made it to the final 4 or title match last season. Good job Arkansas.

Florida right now is playing @Stanford. Top 10 match up. And Sunday they play @UCLA.

Only two programs in the SEC with rowing, correct? LSU and Vanderbilt would be the only others on a river anyway.

We're the only two I remember but I may be missing someone. With rowing most teams expect to travel off campus to practice (our setup is very lucky in that regard). I don't know if the other campuses have courses that are within an hour or so of their campus as that helps a lot.

Alabama has facilities on campus. The boathouse is literally across the street on the Black Warrior River.

I thought you did. I meant 'our setup' in terms of both schools having a lucky setup (sorry I wasn't clear) as that's not the case for a lot of rowing teams that compete and have to find a course to drive to. What I was wondering was how many SEC schools would have a course within driving distance for practice.

They host a lot of events. But I really don't know the entire setup for the sport. I dated a girl that was on the team when I was in grad school. It was still a club sport then.

Cool. I know we've had a lot of success in it but we've been really lucky to have Oak Ridge's course so close by to practice on when we're not practicing at home. I love our boat house but don't know a whole lot about the sport other than what I've picked up from those involved in it or who have kids involved.

I've caught some events while back for football games. But mostly just follow from afar on social media now.

I just think it's awesome that Oak Ridge has a club called "Atomic Rowing."

There's several developments on the riverwalk now. I can eat breakfast at the broken egg and watch early morning practice while in town. Pretty awesome.

Niiice. I'm glad a lot of southern cities are developing their riverwalks. For so long that was overlooked property but cities finally realized they had something that people would really enjoy using. I absolutely love them.

I don't know what our rules are about how many schools need to participate in a sport before the conference sponsors it but it would be nice if some of these were in-conference.

4 schools need to participate in it before the conference will sponsor it.

The SEC currently has two men's soccer programs, South Carolina and Kentucky.

It's actually really well attended at a&m. Tonight's game vs. UCLA had nearly 6,000 fans.

A&M and Florida's teams have been the only consistent ones of the league, both spending most their time in the top 15 it so. A&M made the college cup a couple years ago(final four).

USC's women soccer finished 12-5-3 last season and ranked 16th in the final poll. They lost in the 1st round of the NCAA tournament however to UNC-W.

Overall the Gamecocks have appeared in 9 NCAATs - 8 of them in the last 9 seasons - thus far. The year before last (2014) they reached the elite eight defeating 6th-ranked UNC along the way, before falling to FSU. They finished ranked 9th in the final polls....

This season thus far the team is 2-0-1 with a win over NC St. on Thursday. They started the season ranked 24th but I guess the tie with Oklahoma in 2 OTs caused them to drop out. They will return to the rankings soon enough.....

The men's team hasn't experienced as much success as the women's team has, but they come off last season where they reached the NCAAT for the first time since 2010, losing in the 2nd round in overtime 1-0 to UCSB. In 2010 the men's team won the C-USA tournament and also advanced to the 2nd round of the NCAAT before losing 3-1 to Michigan.

They came into this season ranked as low as 21st, but just lost last night in their season-opener at home 2-1 to rival Clemson who is currently ranked #3. They may drop out of the rankings but then perhaps not after the close loss: the home game attendance of 6,892 was a program record....
