Because CBS generally only does SEC vs SEC games which makes me wonder why they didn't take the Mississippi State vs LSU game.

Too large of an unknown to pick that game.

We know Vandy isn't very good, but it is entirely possible that LSU is worse, we don't have enough data for this season to say LSU is better than Vandy.

Doesn't CBS not have exclusive rights until later on in the season or am I imagining that?

Edit: Exclusive first pick rights, I should say...

Plus I think everybody has to be on CBS every so often. It's probably that time for Vandy

Probably cut a deal with ESPN/ABC to get something later on

I think the CBS deal means all SEC teams must get at least 1 game every 2 years and Vandy may be due?

Because ESPN still owns the rights to the first 2 weeks of SEC football from when CBS had the US open, so basically ESPN gave CBS a quality first week game and then a crap week 2 game before CBS's first tier/first pick contract kicks in week 3.

My guess would be CBS made a deal with ESPN for the doubleheader CBS usually does later in the year.

Ah that's what I thought... ESPN really screwed CBS...

I know UGA struggles in Nashville sometime, but this Vandy team is bad even for their standards. I don't think it will be close.

Well if nothing else CBS is getting a Georgia team that should be in the hunt for the East title. Maybe not the best match up you can get but it does put one of the SEC marque names out there in an early season game so people can watch them dismantle Vanderbilt.
