How is Bama's secondary so bad when Saban is the DB Guru?

Bama has the best players, with the best position coach and the best head coach, yet the DB's are getting exposed. Not the worst but bad considering the talent and coaching.

What gives?

INB4 they are not motivated.

Bad judgments in recruiting, bad coaching, uninspired players, bad defensive scheme, entitled players, etc.

Pick one.

Our corners have been fine this year. It's that our safeties and backers cant cover at all. Part of that is still recruiting bigger guys to stop teams like lsu and Arkansas and part of it is just bad coaching or scheme. The only solution seems to be recruiting much smaller players, and then you can get mauled by run teams. Pick your poison. And truth is, our defense stacks up pretty well with just about anyone when you look at the stats. Giving up a lot of yards is the new normal in college football.

Saban gets too much credit for 5 star players making plays with their talent. He isn't a guru at doing anything with average talent.

And Phil Jackson doesn't have any rings with out Michael Joran and Kobe/Shaq.

Great coaches ALWAYS have great players. And in college football, where you are responsible for building your own team, it is your own fault if you don't have great players.

So this is a pretty asinine statement.

Rashad Johnson was a walk-on, too.

Collins is solid, but Williams/Perry/Smith and the backers aren't helping him out at all.

Losing Sunseri was a tremendous blow to the secondary, not to mention Jackson still recovering from the ACL injury.

Saban recently took up golf. Has been seen with SOS in Augusta.

His fricks have all been spent.

When Little Screamy was at LSU, our two most inexplicable losses were both last play bombs on broken coverage. Arkansas 2002 and Iowa 2004.

Catastophic secondary melt-downs are his specialty.

If he didn't give a shite I doubt he would have blown the frick up like he did after the 2nd muffed punt.

Lack of focus, on his part, at least, is not a fault one can lay on Saban, IMO.
