How important was Nick Saban for LSU?

Saban was everything for them. Heck, Texas A&M beat LSU 5 in row before Nick Saban got to LSU.

Nick Saban made the LSU football program. I'm surprised LSU fans don't have statues of him at their stadium. What's more odd, is LSU fans seem to begrudge Saban just for going to Alabama. LSU fans should have more gratitude.

Can't say anyone made A&M's football program because they never had much of one to begin with

Maybe that day will come when you finally get over the jump

He built the program. Without Saban '03 and '07 do not happen.

you obviously are trolling or you know nothing about LSU before Saban.

bull shite. nick saban lost an average of3 games a year at LSU. he did, however, win a national championship and that is something I doubt your school ever has.

I do not deny that Saban was important to the history of LSU tho, even tho he was only there 5 years. what he taught the administration and TAF was you can't go cheap on hiring HC's, which LSU had pretty much done for a long time. the TAF stepped fund raising up big time and LSU is one of the top football teams in the country because of it.

sorry. he righted the ship; big fricking difference.

you know, LSU had 2 NC's before him and a very successful history at football. just look up our all time records in the SEC. Saban was only there 5 years.

He returned our program to national relevance. He started the cash cow we have today. He started the facility arms race that we see now throughout the country. I thank him for a whole lot of LSU's success. Just sucks for us that he returned to a division rival.

LSUSports.net claims 3. Which year are they not claiming?

He won with DiNardo's players. We were on a decline when he left. We had 4 fewer wins and 2 more losses between 03 and 04. Also, even with his best team at LSU, he lost to Ron Zook at home and the offense scored 0 points in that game.

Retroactive national championships are not true national championships

They are revisionist history championships

I see that re writing history has become an art form in College Station

When you play a season and go unscored upon AND undefeated you can claim whatever the hell you like.

Also, Les got fired when in his last five full years, he actually had a better winning percentage than Saban did in his five years (50-15 v. 48-16). So I can only assume that Saban would have been shitcanned just like Les for being so mediocre.

The Aggies have not beaten any of the following LSU head coaches since their last victory over LSU during the Hallman era:

Gerry Dinardo
Hal Hunter
Nick Saban
Les Miles
Ed Orgeron

Aggies are the only ones who brag about beating 90's LSU
