How good is Hurts?

The little I've watched him, I've come away impressed with his legs. Seems like 50% of his drop backs turn into runs. He averages less than 200 YPG, but why throw if you don't need to?
Obviously, LSU has to stop the run to win, but let's pretend they do, can he throw enough against LSU's DBs to win the game?

He misses some deep balls but his short and intermediate has been ok. He hits the seam a little short but that was pretty early on. He throws the ball hard so if we have to do some sideline " only our receiver" can catch stuff he would get some not all. Some in our fanbase are melting because a TF isn't Tom Brady yet but he isn't bad, not great but getting better.
Bottom line his timing is a little off, he needs to release sooner.

He's a running back that can throw a spiral sometimes

I think he is going to be a fantastic college quarterback, especially if Coach Freshwater sticks around. However, right now he leaves a lot to be desired throwing the ball. His poise, toughness, and athleticism are top notch.

He's a really good runner. He has the arm talent, but he makes freshman mistakes in the passing game and still needs to work on his deep ball. He's got more poise than most though.

LSU will knock the freshman back into him

Pretty good for a freshman QB in the SEC

Kinda like Blake STBDB Sims, only he will be better.

I know his completion % drops tremendously when throws the ball more than 6 yards down field.

Look, the kid isn't Peyton. But I think it's a mistake to assume that he can't throw. He'll have some poor throws. But he knows where to miss and on what part of the field to get greedy on.
And he'll also make throws that impress the hell out of y'all. It's not like he's some bum throwing the ball at all times. He is VERY good at making plays and throws when he needs to and after missed opportunities.
LSU fans who think he's going to lose this game throwing the ball are gonna be a bit annoyed during this game.

He seems to avoid the huge mistake for the most part.
It surprised me that CNS went with a true freshman QB to run his power offense.
They use the standard pro power formations of shotgun, one RB, 3WR, 1 TE with the standard jet motion used by all standard NFL offenses.
They run the usual patriots read option series. no spread for them.

lsu might hit him hard ... might hit him often ... might win the game ... but lsu will not "knock" anything back into him ... he stood in the pocket and took a straight shot to the chin by an ole miss lineman at full speed, and it didn't phase him one bit ... he ain't perfect and he's not polished, but he is as tough a player as there is ...

We sorta held Chad Kelly in check. I would think it's easier force a true freshman to have an off game in Tiger Stadium, but Kiffin may be the best OC in college right now.
Who do you think return punts now that that touchdown machine kid is hurt?

Marks and he does have a return td this year.

kiffin isn't the best oc by any stretch of the imagination ...

I agree with all of that.
You know who else is actually pretty tough? Danny Etling.

Marks is the safe bet. He likely won't get much yardage and he's a small little dude. But he seems to know the position.
Some people were passing out Diggs as a possibility too

Alabama would never ask Hurts to carry the offense like Kelly has too for Ole Miss. Bama's offensive line is probably one of the most improved units in the SEC over the last month. The are executing at a high level in the run game. Hurts will make some throws and he will miss some. It won't really be a key factor in the game.
