How do our Mississippi brethren feel about the current state of the Egg Bowl?

ive always enjoyed the egg bowl a lot and is easily my favorite dynamic on the rant. however, i was reading how some people, including hugh freeze, were discussing how they thought it was too hateful now that both schools have had some success in recent years

do our fellow baws in mississippi feel the same way? or is it more fun now that the game has risen in profile over the past two years

Mullen will be undefeated in Egg Bowls in another month or two.

But I heard from Dan Mullen back in 2013 that Miss State was never going to lose to Ole Miss again anyway.

Yeah well that hit a nerve. Awchie would not stand for The ReBears to lose a 4th straight time to Mullen so they went out and purchased a professional football team

ETA: aaaaaaand your year is way off

Has he slept yet? I remember him saying he wouldn't sleep till he could beat TSUN. He has to be some kind of tired at this point.

Same as always. It has always been hateful. I mean, it is a rivalry and all.

Well Freeze has won 3 of 4 and was very close to being 4 in a row. The rivalry is back where it should be.

Muffin took the hate to a new level, but Ole Miss has kind of knocked the sh!t right out of him now. He is a beaten man. Their greatest QB ever managed one win against us and shat his pants last time he played us.

State fans have lost their collective minds.

None of the bought players of the '13 class were there for the 2012 blowout. Muffins still has an EB loss

Freeze, unlike Mullen, has never approached the Egg Bowl as a "We hate them" type of game. I understand why Mullen took that approach when he got to State and I credit him with rejuvenating the rivalry because it had gotten dull. But he was a bit too "obsessed" with Ole Miss for a while.

Hugh's approach is a lot like most Ole Miss fans's. We don't like them but we don't voice it near as much, and we'll say we have other games that are just as important. Because that gets under their skin more than throwing insults does. Plus it doesn't give them any ammo to use as motivation.

The first eggbowl Hugh won I would agree with you HBJ. It wasn't that big of a deal.

But after he lost the second one he coached in OT it took over him also. He realized how big of a deal it was.

He even said it in a press conference that his coaches were already game planning during "any" spare time for the egg bowl. This was week 4 or 5. He knows how big it is winning the egg bowl.

Oh I agree he knows. I was saying he doesn't say as much about it because he doesn't want to give Mullen any ammo for motivation

I agree with that statement.

I honestly think Dan Mullen has calmed down some. I'm sure the losses helped that, but having a few more years under his belt have done it also.

He was a brash first time coach. Being humble a few times will make anybody hush some.

It's a fine line between arrogant and confident.

Are you Freaking Kidding me. I lived in Alabama for 11 years and the Iron Bowl was the Granddaddy rivalry of them all. As a matter of fact, if a Bama or Tiger coach had said this Rivalry is Too Hateful, I doubt we would see him on the sidelines at the next Iron Bowl. Unfortunately, for Hugh Freeze, the NCAA has an exit strategy for him for future egg bowls.
