Do some bad coaches simply have silver tongues? I mean, some of these bad coaches must have Hitler's gift of gab or something!

If you think about it, bad coaches recruiting well just doesn't make sense. Why would top recruits want to play for a proven bad coach?

Or, perhaps bad coaches recruit well because they are violating NCAA regulations.

$$$$

Plus it helps to have a passionate fanbase, tradition, and a big arse stadium with tiny seats

Or just a big stadium with tiny seats. If it was a big arse stadium there would be no need for tiny seats to increase seating capacity.

You think its a coincidence that the so called top recruits always bust under bad coaches? They weren't really top recruits.

Because its less about the coach and more about the program. Always has been.

But, for example, TN's program has been a dumpster fire for decades...

Or "How does a college football player from a "bad neighborhood" afford a $900 backpack??"

I feel so dirty replying to a killz thread...

Some things are more important to these athletes than fighting the depth chart at Bama to consistently being in the playoffs. Early playing time, the campus they'll be living on, proximity to home, etc.

They cheat like mofos. There are certain exceptions and I think Butch may be one. He was a grinder, and he was lucky with Dobbs panning out and also some good homegrown talent and a bunch of legacy recruits.

That house is such an odd mixture of architectural designs. It's both very nice and ugly.

Botch was a liar too. Just ask Hurd and probably several others.

I think kids commit more because of the university and program, than because of the coach. Yes, the man that will be coaching them for the next 3-4 years makes a difference, but to your point, I think in a situation where a school does not have that great of a coach, the kids desire to play for a certain school is what drives their decision to commit.
