Both true Freshman TE's saw significant playing time. In my opinion the second best signee in this class was 3* David Marshall. He will be a beast on the line. I really wanted Derrick Brown on D but he signed with Auburn and David Marshall flipped to UGA. Might not be a bad trade off. Me thinks David Marshall gonna be AllSEC.

Jacob Eason QB 5* - 8/12 131 YDs and a TD
David Marshall DE 3* - 4 Total tackles including a sack, missed the assignment on UNC's QB when he scored from the 1. CKS corrected that deficiency quickly and he played great afterwards(Flipped from Aubie on signing day )
Brian Herrien RB 3*- 7 CARs 59 YDs and a TD
Isaac Nauta TE 5* - 1 dropped pass
Charlie Woerner TE 4* - 1 REC 1 YD
Riley Ridley WR 4* - Did come in for a couple of plays
Marshall Long Punter 3*- 4 Punts 38.5 AVG

Marlon Davidson started on a Dline thats really good & could end up being the best SEC DLINE. Derrick Brown played a lot he recovered a fumble. Kyle Davis caught like a 40 yard pass. Most of the other guys just played ST or didnt record any meaningful stats.

Alabama used 10 true freshmen on Saturday. Starting two on offense and a third playing a major role by the second quarter. Saban has gone crazy.

I left out 4* DT Tyler Clark who also was in early. That is several additions to the Dawgs who will continue to learn and grow throughout the season and provide quality depth.

WR Bryan Edwards set an SC Football Record for most receiving yards by a true freshman in a season opening game - 101 yds on 8 receptions.

RB AJ Turner - 13 carries for 70 yards, 5.4 ypc avg, 5th highest ypc in the conference, highest for SEC Fr.

QB Brandon McIlwain went 5/11 for 35 yards, and then avg'd 4.1 YPC on 7 Rushes.

DE Kier Thomas had 3 Tackles
DE DJ Wonnum had 1 Tackle.

Altogether solid contribution by the FR and a Record Setting Performance by WR Edwards.

Not Crazy!!!

Saban is prepping them for when whoever is in front of them on the depth chart leaves early for the NFL so you all can keep towing the company line that has proven to be true so far; doesn't matter who we lose, the backup is jsut as good and is a 5*.

That was only 15 snaps played.

K: Braden Mann - 5 kickoffs, 3 touchbacks

And a missed FG that could have prevented OT.

Not if you count Brian Herrien's 7 carries for 59 yds, 8.4 YPC.
