Is this board just a giant troll or really stupid? Cal is a very good college basketball both both in Xs and Os and recruiting

Those who are jealous, or don't understand basketball are the ones that say stupid stuff like that.

Now, does he sometimes make puzzling decisions? Yes

Every coach makes puzzling decisions. But Cal always has his teams play extremely hard, and they always seem to get better later in the season. Guy can flat out coach

Because people think that talent on the roster should automatically win you championships and he gets dinged for some by only having one at UK.

Is he a top Xs and Os guy? Nah. Tubby and Pitino were better at UK. But his excellent recruiting and ability to manage the egos as well as his ability to create some very good defensive players is what puts him up there as a coach. All of that is still part of coaching.

Yeah. I don't know if anyone who has as much talent from top to bottom year in and year out and there is never any complaining.

And he is always pointing his team to the NCAA. Guy is the best in the business today.

Cal has broken records set here by Rupp and NCAA records as well. Anyone who thinks he just rolls the ball out there is either a complete idiot or just doesn't like Kentucky. They can frick off either way. Cal is the man!

Because he always has the most talented team in the country.

And that doesn't always translate to the national championship.

His teams are always extremely good though. The NCAA tournament is a frick tarded way to claim a championship. Anything can happen in 1 basketball game

I think it started when that loaded Memphis team gagged away the national title against Kansas because they couldn't buy a free throw.

I don't agree with it, by the way. He almost always seems to find a good lineup to close tight games.

Yeh that just makes no sense. If Rose makes the free throws at the end Cal is a better coach? Imagine how different the NBA champions would look if they had a 16 team tournament at the end with 1 game a piece. Would be nuts.

He's definitely not perfect. I think most questioned some of the ways he used Skal earlier this season and not playing Ulis more against Wisconsin last season.

But outside of Coach K at Duke, it's not like some good active coaches I'd consider elite are winning championships every season. And with good veteran teams.

ETA: It'd be different if he wasn't throwing out at least an Elite Eight in every year he's been at UK sans 1 thus far.

There were a few other things at the end of that game too (Joey Dorsey switching out on the perimeter late and picking up his fifth foul as a result being the main one) but Kansas was hitting everything in the last few minutes too. Calipari is a great coach. IMO, Izzo is the best Xs and Os/tourney coach out there but Calipari brings in talent like no one in history before him. And does a damn good job coaching them up.

Considering he has about eight 5 stars on his roster every year I would def say he underachieves. He is extremely overrated and only has 1 NCAA championship due to striking gold with Anthony Davis. TRUTH

And here is your village idiot ilk.

Eta: Cal could be like Johnny Jones and piss away the future #1 player to the CBI.

Underachieves?

1 title
3 title games
6 final fours
10 elite eights

That isn't underachieving moron. In basketball in a 1 game only format that is great

He is an elite recruiter. He is a very good coach, but he's not a great coach. Give his roster the last 7 or 8 years to Izzo, Pitino, Coach K, Roy Williams, Bill Self, or several others and they all win more than one title with the talent Cal has had.

You realize Self and Roy basically had the same amount of talent in the same time span?

Cal is not the x and O genius that people want to see in crunch time. He is a consummate team leader type coach and manages all the personalities on the team to try and maximize everyones potential while being a team.

He also runs a dribble drive offense that is very attractive to guards as recruits. He has developed a lot of guards in his day.
