in year 4? I mean in year 4 there is no excuse right?
Was just looking at scores from last year and you'd think that would've been the last straw.

Tennessee's standards are low?
P.S. for those who downvote:
45 points is the most Vandy has scored against Tennessee since Vandy won 51-7 in 1923.

Tennessee's 2016 football season was actually pretty miraculous. They lost the turnover battle over the course of the season, gave up 450yds of offense per game, and still went 9-4.

Wait till you see what he is going to give up to GT.

The Tennessee team that beat ACC runner up Virginia Tech, Florida, and Georgia in the first half of the season was a completely different team than the one that lost to Vanderbilt in November.
There's never an excuse to lose to Vandy, but UT was the #1 most injured team in CFB last season and it showed up in the back half of the schedule.
4th string Defensive Tackles (McKenzie, Tuttle, and O'Brien all out. Walk on Paul Bain forced to play and undersized Defensive ends forced to slide inside because there were no more bodies) No linebackers (Jalen-Reeves Maybin and Quarte Sapp both out. Darrin Kirkland was playing 50% after coming back from a high ankle sprain)
Vanderbilt also played out of their mind in the 2nd half and put together a nice finish to the game.

Better yet, how will he survive losing to Ga Tech, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, LSU and Vandy this year? 5-7 will be tough to survive.

It's always a tricky proposition betting on or against an option team. I could see a scenario where the extremely hyped Tennessee DL finally lives up to its billing. Or I could see a scenario where they get gashed to the tune of 400 rushing yards. I really do not have a feel for this game at all.

they're going to give up a ton of rush yards, that's just what happens when you play that offense. Question will be can they limit the big plays. The good thing for UT is they've had months to prepare which is usually a major advantage when playing tech. The bad news is I'm not sure if butch has faced somethign like this recently, and I don't think he's a very good coach anyway.
I see UT winning this game by 17 or losing by 13.

I posted this in another thread earlier regarding the GT game.
Several of the coaches on UT's staff are very familiar with the triple option.
-DB coach Charlton Warren was at Air Force Academy for 7 years and is extremely familiar with its concepts.
-Warren also coached/helped prep against Georgia Tech in 2015 and 2016 while at North Carolina. North Carolina won both games while Warren was in Chapel Hill.
-OC Larry Scott also game planned and faced the Georgia Tech offense while he was on staff at Miami from 2013-2015. They went 2-1 against Tech while he was there.
It's a unique offense, but Tennessee has had months to prepare for it and have several guys on staff who are very familiar with that system.

Who is Tennessee going to get at this point? I don't think they have the 6 or 7 million dollars a year it would take to land a flashy big name hire.

Truth be told, the thought of Chip Kelly in Knoxville terrifies me as an Alabama fan. The same was true last year when I thought LSU might make a run at him.
You can say what you want about his personality, but the dude can flat out coach college football. And if he had access to the talent in this part of the country, I think he could build a powerhouse. Just my two cents.

If this happens, he'll be gone after Kentucky.

Each SEC team got 15 million dollars SEC network money, that's a fact.
