There are numerous explanations.
Excessive alcohol consumption:
Drugs and/or emotional instability:
Or possibly neutering:

He is a buffett magnet

He needs testosterone injections, high intensity training, and for his wife to cut off the sex until he removes the extra person he's hauling around inside himself.

He likes to eat would be my guess. Beats practicing.

Some people are just fat...even in his trim Days he had to be about 280
Why don’t you ask your family members...I’m sure you got a few

What do you think Bert really weighs? He is 6'5, isn't he?
I'm guessing 330.
High or low?

Honestly, Lane's weight gain looks to be like hitting 40 + alcohol consumption.

Real answer is this
He tore his ACL in college and trainer gave him 2 options
1. Surgery and replace but miss the season
2. Learn how to play without it and remain a starter
He chose 2 so doesn't have 1 acl.

Skip a meal every day and eat out his wife (I will if he wont) problem solved.

This might be true, but I've had a creampuff at the Wisconsin state fair. That takes a backseat to nothing.

Are we talking about Lane or Bert, here? I know that was the case for Bert, but I was talking about Kiffin in my post you quoted.

Used to work with a bunch of people from Madison. Said the guy would just camp out at the bar for 5-6 hours on weekdays.

He got married and let himself go.

Honestly, his knees are fricked up from playing football.
I used to cycle 20+ miles a day and ran a few times a week until I tore my meniscus hiking.
Now it's hard to exercise because it feels like I'm shredding the cartilage in my knee. Pretty depressing because I loved cycling, running, and hiking.
I don't know for certain why he's gained weight but I know from experience that having messed up knees limits your cardio exercise options.

They don't really have buffets up here. Like the previous poster, I blame the abundance of Golden Corrals in the south. Dude probably sits with a straw in the chocolate fountain for minutes on end.
I really like Fayetteville. But the food around here is pretty shitty compared to anywhere I've lived as an adult.
