How can there have been a serious discussion about 11/19 by this point?

how could this contingency plan have been worked out in the span of a few hours (which is the timetable from UF dragging its feet ended with the discussions with the SEC and LSU yesterday)?

financially, how could LSU or UF negotiate to buy out their opponents in such a short time?

how would the revenue issue be negotiated in such a short time?

all of this is under the umbrella of the larger financial issue: the insurance. there cannot have been a coverage determination for UF losing this game alone, let alone the issues with moving the game. until that can be sorted out how can the SEC, UF, or LSU begin to take any steps towards this rescheduling?

there was a very small window for all of this yesterday and it probably would be all but impossible for anyone to continue that discussion today (logistically it's impossible with the hurricane and all the other shite going on via PR)

the insurance.
does UF even have a valid claim for a total loss on the game weekend? they could have rescheduled the game for Sunday or Monday and while the revenue would have been less it would have been at least some revenue. I'm not sure a policy would allow you to cancel without considering any alternatives.

It was never discussed. Jeremy Foley floated a lie to ESPN''s Brett McMurphy that LSU refused to reschedule for Nov. 19.

It was a well played cowardly move by Florida's AD.

Foley totally blew this management of getting the game played and tried to spin a disastrous PR story.

who knows. this is the first year with the insurance policy iirc

the ins and outs of coverage aren't really known yet

i seriously doubt that the SEC gets the insurance payment if they reschedule the UF game

Total misconception. Foley did exactly what he set out to do from the beginning.

If that is true why wouldn't lsu's AD come out and publicly embarass him and say "that never happened, he's lying, we've never mentioned 11/19 as a makeup"?

How do you know it wasn't discussed?

It's in Floridas best interest to skip the game but the lying should be called into account here. Foley should be getting blasted.

It's hilarious Florida fans (and most other fans apparently) really think they worked out a plan to play on 11/19 and LSU refused.

Yeah, they worked out the buyouts, the cancelling of contracts with other teams, the schedule with other games (LSU & A&M play on Thursday which would most definitely need to be rescheduled), the logistics.

Yeah, all that happened on Thursday.

He did!

This is why LSU's PR people suck. Nobody except LSU fans know this.

in the span of what? 2 hours? 3?

without even knowing if insurance would pay?

who honestly believes this? that's the point of this thread. that one question

To be fair I haven't really attempted to look into it much, so that may just be on me for not knowing.

It helps Florida that they have two mouthpieces at ESPN (Aschoff and McMurphy).

It hurts LSU that they just suck at PR.

ESPN has been running with this story that Foley put out there that LSU is this bad guy who refused to reschedule Nov. 19th.

It was never discussed and LSU AD said as much in his press conference. LSU AD Alleva gave Foley every opportunity to move the game or play it in Gainesville Sunday or monday and he refused.

When the storm became more severe and changed paths a litte Foley knew he was gonna be crucified by the media so he spun the story through his lackey Brett McMurphy and tried to make LSU the bad guy.

The reason this game isnt being played is bc McElwain and Foley were fine with it being cancelled and having a competitive advantage over Tenn. in the east standings.

They kept pushing the decision time back time after time hoping it would be cancelled ad got their wish.

Florida's head coach and AD are cowards.

I personally listened to him on local radio say that today. Almost word for word. It was aimed towards the ESPN guy that wrote the article. He called him a liar, but didn't outright call the Florida AD a liar because I don't think the FL AD actually said it.

He said unequivocally that 11/19 was never discussed. Period. Never even mentioned. He called it horrible journalism that went out purely as click bait.

Now, if I were Alleva, I would go on national tv and ask Jeremy Foley to join him in confirming that the article was wrong, and 11/19 was never discussed. Then, put it back in Foley's court. Eventually, one of them will have to blink.
