Lane Kiffin

He'll still do better than Coach O though.

Best of luck Lane. You deserve another shot.

It's amazing what one year of bubble screens, jet sweeps and refusing to run the ball and killing drives after successive runs of 10+ yards will do for a perspective on things.

Lane's style will be perfect for Houston. The things Bama fans hated about him are exactly what they want.

Houston is closing in on a decision to make Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin its next football coach, pending a Thursday meeting at which school President Renu Khator will have to give the final OK, two people with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports. Those people spoke on the condition of anonymity because the school had not yet announced the move.

Kiffin would replace Tom Herman, who left for Texas after two seasons.

Houston has not officially offered the job and can't until the president signs off on it. Major booster Tilman Fertitta told a Houston radio station Thursday morning that no decision has been made.

Though it’s possible Houston could backtrack, Kiffin has been operating as if he will become the next Houston coach as of Wednesday night.

As of Wednesday, Houston had eliminated Les Miles as a candidate and was deliberating between Kffin and its internal candidates, most prominently defensive coordinator Todd Orlando. Oklahoma offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley had been a candidate but pulled out Wednesday.

Tilman Fertita is a college dropout for UH who is rolling in the dough. Dude owns Landry's, used to own Joe's Crabshack. Owns the Downtown Aquarium in Houston, the Bentley/Royce dealership, etc. The dude went public with his company, and then bought it all back. Straight baller.

But he just happens to share the last name as the old UFC Fertita right? If not and they're related are those guys in the mob? They're both worth like 5billion and most people outside of UFC and CFB fans don't know them.

In hindsight that shite is funny as hell. I dunno as a bama fan if I'm sad to see Kiffin go to Houston or not. I feel like he's a good O coordinator but man, he seems like he jumped on the coat tails at the right time and was literally drug along for the ride... even ones he missed.

Internet says they are third cousins. I really think Fertita is self made. I know a guy who was very involved with him through his rise, and he has his reasons for the rise, but none of them are shady. Says Fertita is the the most demanding human he has ever met. And his companies reflect that.
