I don't want his Texas recruiting contacts and offensive play-calling prowess in the SEC West.

Why would he take a lateral job?

It’s not? Arky was a 10 win team a few years ago in the SEC west. SMU struggles to win 6 in the AAC. I love to troll Arky more than most, but it has some advantages that most will ignore.

You must be confused, Chad Morris is the coach of SMU.

Chad Morris lives in Dallas. That's the dream. He's not going to Arkansas.

I know. Texas recruiting base, hard to lure talented kids to Arky, and SMU doesn't play LSU, AU, ATM, and Bama every year. Gonna be hard to attract a coach who's up for that challenge. Gotta open the purse.

It's literally impossible. Arkansas needs to go full gimmick. Pay the best Elite 11 QB they can, red shirt him, hire a guy to play for that kids senior year. It's a 5 year build.

Arkansas is in most respects a better job than SMU, obviously. But I'm not sure it would be wise for Morris to leave SMU for Arkansas right now. (Use them for a pay raise, but don't take the job!) It would be hard to win at Arkansas right now. If he thinks he can keep winning at SMU, better to wait and see what happens at A&M and other places in the coming two or three years.

He can do better than Arkansas, and Arkansas could stall his career.

Completely agree. Speaking of which, wonder if they'll make a run at Gustav...

If you look at our offense, a spread coach could come in and put up 35+ ppg. We have ideal spread people rn. Big QB who can do both, several shifty receivers who could do things in space and several good RBs. It's embarrassing how little BB gets out of his players.

The timing is right for Gus to return home.

Meh, Arkansas has always lured talented players from Texas. Even our current coaching staff, with very limited contacts in the area, have landed some players from there.

Besides, Fayetteville is one of the nicest places to live in the country. If we can get them to campus its not that hard to sell the area to recruits. They won't be lonely for the Lone Star state up there, something like a quarter of the students at the U of A are from Texas and that was a few years ago, its likely higher now.

The problem is that Bielema and his staff are Mid Westerners for the most part. They don't have the ties to the area that helps to land big fish more often.

Edited because I should really not type and eat at the same time.

I would laugh if he went to Arkansas, and subsequently beat Sumlin. Then I would cry

You land less talent from Texas than Oklahoma State... b a wide margin. You have like 3 four stars under Beliema in 4 years. Lolz.

Then why does Oklahoma State outrecruit Texas kids?

You need depth, not the big fish. Your recruiting is bad. Really bad.

Which is why Houston Nutt is the right choice.

He's tanned, rested, and ready.
