from what I watched of the game, every series they tried the run on 1st down, gaining nothing and putting the offense in second and third and long. the whole damn game. and this is the best passing qb coming back in the SEC from last year?

I thought I saw les miles up in the box calling plays. very frustrating.

There was horrible play calling all day, especially on the goal line but its not like Allen gave them a ton of reasons to throw it more often.

Not really I don't think- we just sucked it up all around and couldn't do a gosh damn thing on offense.

I actually think our defense is a teeny tiny amount better than it has been but when every other facet of your team sucks balls, including coaching, it's hard to get too excited about that.

I didn't watch the game...but giving up 21 points through 58 minutes to TCU is obviously an improvement

The real story of the game is how bad our receiving core is. From the very start of the game on the third play our senior most receiver dropped a pass wide open. He also dropped a few others.

If you watch the game you will see our receivers just falling down.. without being touched, you see Allen throwing the ball expecting them to do 1 thing, but they are doing another.

Our running game may still be good, but TCU loaded the box and stuffed it because they had no fear of our receivers.

Teams use to do this to us back in the Nutt days when we had McFadden.. difference is McFadden would still get 8 to 10 yards a carry because he was one of the greatest running backs in SEC history. Our current RB situation is not going to be able to do that. Unless we have some receivers step up and get serious, it's going to be a very long season.

In a way though, you can indirectly blame Allen for all of this.. he is the senior QB and he should have been driving those receivers throughout the summer to get ready to play. Right now, it looks like nothing happened over the summer accept for the defense trying to improve.
