I agree with Jake. Arkansas is a top 10 team, but the voters can't stand giving so much love to SEC teams, especially three teams in one division.

I think having about 70% of your conference in the top 25 is a good bit of love

My point was that both LSU and Bama are top 5, and they are considered two of the preseason national title contenders. I feel like Arkansas should be mentioned in the same company as a top 10 team, but voters would rather spread the preseason hype around instead of admitting that 3+ SEC teams have national title hopes.

Why does Georgia deserve to be in the Top 25? 6-7 with a loss in the Liberty Bowl doesn't get me thinking Top 25 for the next season.

It remains to be seen how good they actually are, but what we know right now is that: 1) they have the best returning starting QB in the SEC; 2) they have a favorable schedule; 3) Richt is on the hot seat and will pull out all stops to win.

fair enough, your original statement was just a bit vague then
i think the difference here is that a lot of people, believe it or not, dont really consider the hogs to be a national title contender.

We do have a lot to prove this year. I was a little surprised we were ranked.
With that said I believe we will have a good year. Maybe top 15 at years end with a little luck.

08 bama came from unranked (26th lol) to number 2nd in what 6-7 weeks and 2010 auburn started off at 23rd i believe. if you go 13-0 out of the west there's no way you don't play for a title :)

Exactly. Pre-season polls are worthless except for generating excitement over early season games. It will take 6 weeks or so before the rankings settle somewhat.

Voters don't care about that. There's 3 schools from the former Big XII South in the Top 10 and none of them are named Texas.
Perhaps they just don't like putting teams with an unknown QB in the Top 10 unless they are stacked everywhere else?
And FTR, I do think Tyler Wilson will be good. But why not let him prove it first?

Arky hasnt finished the top ten for almost 30 YEARS yet you think you should get some consideration?
The only consideration you will get is what you earn. Stop choking at the end of every season 22 out of the last 25 years and you might get consideration as the best 2nd tier team out there.
ps ..if you get LUCKY...with your OOC SOS Boise St will finally get to a BCS NCG over you.
