Historic season for Mizzou hoops

7-25
Looks like the very likely end result for this season.
To put that in some historical context.
First losing season since 05-06
The 25 losses would be the most in school history. Besting (worsting???) the previous mark of 22 in 66-67.
1 conference win would sadly only tie for the worst season as that was accomplished in 65-66 and 66-67
A win pct of 22% would be the 3rd worst mark in school history.
As far as I can tell our 61.3 PPG is the worst in school history during the shot clock era.
Again, as far as I can tell our RPI of 178 is also the worst in school history since the stat came into existence.
Ladies and gents, we are living in historic times. When it's all said and done this team will have a very legitimate argument for being the absolute worst team in our school's history spanning 112 seasons of play.

A 178 RPI is a dream for us Auburn fans

It's hard for me to imagine Missouri being this bad in basketball. Back in the day they were as good as anybody.

It's actually worse than that. That was before our loss to SC
Auburn is at 153 btw

I didn't realize it was THAT bad.
What is the cause of it? Seriously asking cause I don't really keep up with Mizzo at all. But this is just puzzling to me.
Did yall see this terrible of a season coming?

This is the Bert plan, only we actually won a conference game in year one.

Didn't have high expectations, but nothing approaching this.
What's wrong? Who knows. Maybe we are young or maybe our guys aren't worth a damn or maybe we hired a shite coach. Maybe a combo of all of that. This season is a total disaster, throw away. Hopefully we make some major strides next year.

Cause? Lots of youth/inexperience (8 or 9 of the guys are FR or SO). New HC, new system, enforced discipline, etc.
Yeah, most of us saw it coming.

I remember when Pelphrey went 2-14 in league play, our worst conference record of all time.

We're just trying to fit in around here.

We definitely saw it coming. It has been in motion ever since Anderson screwed us over. After Anderson, we replaced him with Haith who made Mizzou fans believe he was the second coming. Haith realized Mizzou was going to be a dumpster fire this year and got the hell out of dodge. Unfortunately, Kim Anderson is getting the short end of the stick due to their incompetence. We will be back in a few years, because we are a freshman dominated team. I must add that I 100% disagree with the statement that the SEC is a better basketball conference than the Big 12, because it is completely false. The conference is extremely top heavy with Kentucky being a powerhouse. The Big 12 I remember always had 4-6 top 25 teams in it.

I haven't followed too closely, but it seems like it's gone downhill for Missouri since the Norfolk State disaster.

I wouldn't necessarily blame that atrocity on our downfall. It was more of the fact that Haith kept relying on transfers rather than bringing AND keeping his freshman classes. The transfers were gone after a year, so it left Kim Anderson with literally nothing. Our top returning player averaged 5 ppg last season (JW III). He was a freshman. We were left with literally nothing.
