I think its fair to say that Mexican food in every other SEC state/town is complete crap compared to what we have in Texas

Well that's because Texas is slowly becoming Mexico so it's pretty much authentic.

Apparently Starkville has a place called Jean's cafe

It's right behind Rock Bottom and Drifters in the Cotton District.

Other places of note in Starkville

Restaurant Tyler in downtown below Zorbas

Petty's BBQ on Hwy 12

Christy's Burgers

Grumpy's

Cappe's Steak House

Cowbell's (actually has a good steak, wings, and burgers. Most don't realize this)

Stagger inn (formerly Cotton District Cafe)

Bin 612

These are all the "hole in the wall" type places and all have good food.

The more common restaurants are Veranda, Central Station Grill, Mugshots, Oby's, Umi's Japanese Steakhouse, Harvey's, etc.

And you'd be dead wrong.

Lexington has some damn good Mexican food due to all the Mexicans working in the horse industry.

Billy's BBQ - Western KY style mutton

DeSha's - Get the hot brown

Ramsey's - Kentucky cuisine. All locally grown/sourced.

Pazzo's - Over 300 beers and decent pizza.

Horse and Barrel - Awesome laid back Bourbon bar

Hugh Jass Burgers - Food is just alright but $1 draft beer all day everyday.

I'm surprised Creole Shack hasn't been mentioned in Auburn.
If you want to shell out $100 and get laid go to Warehouse Bistro. There is a kickass Irish Pub in downtown Opelika that had pretty good food with a great atmosphere.

Like there aren't any Mexicans anywhere but Texas.

Of course there are, but the food doesn't carry over. I've learned that the hard way.

Eat at Casa Rod in Bryan and tell me its the exact same as "Mexican food" in Arkansas.

A lot of those places in other states aren't Tex Mex also. A lot of people don't understand the difference between Tex Mex and Mex Mex (authentic Mexican) which is what most places in other states are. I strongly prefer Tex Mex even though it's not that healthy.

As being a resident of NWA I suggest everyone to visit either of these places if in town for a game or a visit:

Pesto
Mama's
Gypsy
Backwoods Barn

I live in NWA and I have never heard of any of these places. Maybe I need to get out more or your list is BS. Unsure. GEAUX TIGERS!! Through Thick and Thin

Ahhhh the memories. Filet, salad and a baked potato: $2.25
Nick mixing Red Tides at the bar, taking Red Tides and Zombies back to the sorority house in gallon mayo jars.

Went back 20 years or so later. Nick happened to remember me as one of the girls with the gallon mayo jars.

You need to get out then. Pesto is on College in the Chief Motel, Mama's is South past the Courthouse. Lyn D's Cajun Gypsy is on Poplar. Backwoods is in Goshen, you can take Mission to it, Habberton from Springdale, or 16 from Elkins. Backwoods is a buffet only fish and chicken, but they are not always open, only when they want to be open.

Green Submarine on Wedington. Located at the end of a 1970's style wooden convenient store.

Fresh meat cut daily. When they run out of meat, they stop making the sandwich.

Best sub place in NWA.

I was with you until you said La Bodega. The drinks will put you on your arse, but the food there freaking BLOWS.

Brunch at Bodega kicks arse. I love their Breakfast sandwiches and Burritos. They also make a badass cinammon coffee cake.

You're right about their regular dinner entrees though.

Their handmade liquor drinks are the shite. So true that a few of those and you'll end up in a ditch on Northgate passed out.
