I'd wait for LSU too if I was him.

Butch and Tom competing for SEC Honors on a regular basis in 2017 and beyond.

That means nothing...this stuff is worked out through agents anyways. He is probably just calming the fan base down.

Article didn't say what the buyout was, so never say never

He should stay at Houston for 2-3 years, win 30 games, then pick his next one. He obviously isn't worried about $ or he would have jumped at one of the bigger offers.

Maybe he will come back to OSU post Meyer

If he has a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave Houston for Austin without a buyout ... yes. Ala Lou Holtz did with Minnesota for Notre Dame.

Yup. He was a graduate assistant there in 99 for Mack Brown. I think he waits to see what happens with Strong after next season.

so he's not bothering w/ a better job because his dreamjob (bev0) will be open soon enough and he's sure it's his for the taking?

somehow this just doesn't logically work out..

It comes down to risk vs reward.

Take $3 million a year to play in a garbage conference and win with little pressure.

Take $4-5 million to play in the most competitive conference where if you lose more than 2 or 3 games you're probably fired.

I mean if he wins 9+ games next year, then he can pick his job. No one could have imagined in 2015 alone USC, UGA, Miami, VT, Mizzou and LSU (sort of) would open up. Those are all top 25 type jobs with 3 of them (including LSU) being top 10 type jobs

Who is to say that Saban won't retire, Kelly won't leave for the NFL, and Stoops may not hang it up to where Bama, ND and OU are open after 2016 (I picked 3 somewhat realistic ones but you never know). Herman wins another year, he's in the running for that level of job potentially

It's dumb to put UGA on here. None of us were betting on him coming.

or he could NOT win 9+ games and Strong could finally start winning and his shot at his "dream job" could go up in smoke.

Any coach in that league that says no to coaching in the SEC at UGA, that looks like "i Skerd of the bigboys"...

This seems to be all you care about anymore. Beat South Carolina and you're happy.

If that's all you wanted him for, then congrats. You got your man.

Tennessee should be super frightened that Richt is fired. Now that we will get someone competent (hopefully) Tennessee will never be able to rise above both Florida and Georgia again.
