I thin you're reaching a bit. Sims made some plays with his legs, but he was heavily dependent on Coop.

almost entirely dependent on him. alabama was in several dire situations where sims made some really fantastic scrambles. i don't think sims was a good QB.. but he could flat out run

Lol, that's what I'd take out of it too.

Well he doesn't have to be an AA just solid. I mean Kiffen made Sims look good and he can't even make a CFL team.

DO not discount Sims' heart. I saw that kid save several plays by will alone. Sims was the kind of player you want on your team, the kid stuck it out and never gave up.
I have no idea if Coker has that kind of motivation.

Those were some of the worse Ducks I have seen thrown by College QBs. A couple were thrown into triple coverage.

Blake Sims looked like garbage in last year's A-Day game. And see how that turned out. You just can't take much from a spring scrimmage either way.

I wasn't. Mainly a reaction to the five interceptions by the secondary in the A-Day Game.

I think the secondary will be improved, but not because of forced turnovers in a scrimmage. Another year of growth for the younger CBs and Cyrus Jones returns after a 2nd Team All-SEC season. The safeties are the major worry.

I think it speaks volumes about the success of Alabama that the questions seem to center around whether Alabama will only be a top five team or top two team. A "just fine" offense is probably all they need for top five.

Maybe in years past, but things have changed with their schedule. With games against Wisc, LSU, A&M, MSU, OM, Ark, an improved TN to go along with UGA and AU, the margin of error is very small. There will be games were a "just fine" Offense will equal a lose.

There are a lot of Alabama fans that will never give Sims the credit he deserves.

kiffin did have some masterful games.. UF for example

Even if there were games where he wasn't masterful for the entire game, he had calls in every game that were incredible. The call in OT against LSU was great (as was the drive to kick game tying FG). He had 2 calls in the OSU game that should have gone for TDs - one of which resulted in an INT (not a knock on Sims. he played great most of the year, but picked a bad time to miss open WRs).

As for Alabama, there may be 2-3 losses on that schedule, but it's just as likely that they win the West. The reason I think Alabama will be fine this year is b/c guys like JP Wilson, AJ McCarron, and Blake Sims have been QB for the last several years and the O has been fine. Bama hasn't had/needed a Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, Johnny Manziel type guy to make the O work. They've had slightly above average talents at QB who played within themselves and didn't hurt the team. That recipe works well with all the talent around them.
