Making this thread so bookmark it if you want, but Henry has the tools to be an every down back in the NFL. Most importantly, the dude picks up blocks as well as any running back I've seen in CFB this year. He also doesn't tire out, and falls forward with every play. All in all, I see a successful career for #2.

Tell me one reason why he wouldn't. Something of substance please, if you can handle that.

His offensive line may not as be as dominate against equal or better talent up front.

Henry will do fine in the NFL.

The NFL is now a passing league, RB's have sadly been reduced to utility players.

So he won't be the next Barry Sanders or Emmitt Smith, but nobody will be, give the current NFL rule set.

His offensive line is currently about average with the rest of the SEC. It is one of the weakest units on the team, and currently contains 1 5 star recruit, 2 4 stars, a JuCo transfer, and a 3 star.

It isn't the Oline of years past at Alabama and is in the 90s for TFL given up.

What these tools don't realize is that Henry is a work horse, along with being a HOME RUN HITTER.

He can tote the rock running between tackles which is what real RB's do (respect LSU) all the while not wearing down.

shite he was a threat to break a 70 yarder in the 4th Q, after 35 plus carries.

I always believed t. Rich benefited from an outstanding OL, and never convinced me in regards to vision.

I believe DH has the ability to adapt to whatever OL he's dealt with, because in due time, he has the power/stamina to outlast until he finds the seam using his vision.

Please don't compare this player to brandon lol Jacobs, It's apples and oranges.

RMFT!!

People on the rant are upset because he doesn't juke all that often, thus claiming he will be unsuccessful in the NFL. Which is funny considering that isn't what is needed to be successful in the NFL.

An every down back? Lolz. There have been 20 of those to suit uo in the last 5 years. He really doesn't have the skillset to be an every down back and it's completely obvious. His lack of quickness will hurt him. There is a reason DeMarco Murray(who has far more quickness than Henry) is coming off the greatest season in Dallas Cowboys history for a running back) is a 4th string running back at the moment. Unless you have the best offensive line in the league, lack of quickness will hold you back. Being able to make a fast twitch move in the back field is not just suggested, it's requires. And DeMarco has a wiggle that Henry can't come close to. You can mask shortcomings(especially if you have so few of them like Henry) in college, but it's a whole hell of a lot harder to do in the NFL. And even with the marginal success Henry will most likely have that lack of quickness surely means he won't be in on third downs and he'll 100% spell with a scat back.

And FYI, I can't wait for the butthurt from gumps in response where they try and downplay how his lack of quickness won't matter. Derrick Henry is one of the greatest to ever play college, but any insinuating that his skillset won't comoletely translate will do nothing but outrage Bama fans. Derrick Henry will be a decent running back in the NFL and might even have a 5 or 6 year career as a first string back. That will make him one of the top 400 people to ever walk the earth at playing running back in the NFL in the last 50 years. That in itself is one of the great accomplishments imaginable. But Bama fans are so insecure that any suggestion he's not destined for being named to the All-Pro team for the next 10 years will short circuit them and cause them to lash out.

Downhill runners don't really fit in today's NFL. Dominated college because he is bigger and stronger, that doesn't work in the NFL.

Has to make huge strides in acceleration to be good at the next level.

I agree Henry will be successful...he's not a big man who only tries to bulldoze...has a great sidestep and great acceleration for his size. He won't be as successful in the open field because linebacker speed is so much better in NFL, but nobody is..fournette won't be as good either.

First off, nowhere did I say he would be an All-pro back. I simply meant he will be a first line running back and a successful one at that. That's it. I never claimed he would be breaking records and setting the world on fire. I think you misunderstood my meaning of "every down back". I didn't mean he was going to be a focal point of an offense, I meant that he is versatile as hell because of his skills as a runner and a blocker. He has the tools to be a bruiser, and although you may disagree on his speed, he is pretty damn fast.

He's a versatile player and is suited to handle the big boys of the NFL.
