The University of Miami at Appalachian State (Boone, NC).

Mississippi State at Louisiana Tech (Ruston, LA).

The University of Missouri at Arkansas State (Jonesboro, Arkansas).

I mean, why?

I am sure there are more examples, but these just seem like strange match-ups. Feel free to add your own either from the past or the future.

I am sure Auburn has had some in the past, but hopefully we are nowhere close to this type of scheduling in the future.

The Missouri one is fairly easy, changing schedules with a new league they were stuck over a barrel and had to take what they could get. At least Jonesboro, is very close to Missouri.

Moo State at Ruston... perhaps the Bulldogs want to get more exposure in La. to help with recruiting?

Miami at Appalachian State... nah, I got nothing for that one.

maybe they just wanted to see what it is like playing in front of a crowd

Miami may not actually make that much in ticket revenue for a home game, making payout cupcake games not possible.

Not saying this applies to any of these examples, but sometimes a "quality" opponent cancels, and the pool of replacements is kinda take what you can get. I seem to remember LSU having trouble replacing W Va because of that one year.

Completely understand the whole cancellation thing, but we all play cupcakes to hopefully compensate for these types of things down the road.

It just seemed like these guys just caved in and settled for these particular games.

But, like I said, scheduling can be tricky.

Why not just buy that team out for like 1.2 million to play at your place for as many times as you want. There are no rules against that.

State has made an embarrassing habit of this.

@south Alabama

@ UMASS

In consecutive seasons. Wtf is that

I agree with your disapproval.

Just wondering how much you get paid to do things like that. I thought the point was that you were helping out smaller Universities financially.

What is your reward otherwise?

Kentucky had to agree to a home and home with Southern Miss in order to fill the UAB vacancy.

Those games represent well over a million dollars our AD doesn't have to pay for garbage home games. LSU just scheduled a game against Rice in Houston, so maybe it's catching on.

UMASS plays at Gillette stadium right now. That is where the New England Patriots play. That is an awesome venue for you guys. I would somehow make the trip, but I would still be pissed about the team choice. Sounds like a great trip, but I would spend more time focusing on Boston/New York and New England than the actual football game. Very strange decision for you guys. I really don't know how I would respond to that in all honesty, lol.

Seriously. My wife is from south Florida, and I ended up at a BC vs. Miami game one year....saddest, most boring atmosphere I've ever been in. Couldn't have been 20K people there.

Yep, kinda like a minor league baseball game on a Wednesday evening. Crickets.

There are only so many turd teams out there to fill your schedule with. Back out of too many deals, even with a nice payday and you fill find they aren't around when you need them.

For Arkansas State this was the white whale they are always after, an SEC team coming to their stadium. They probably offered a fairly sweet deal to get Mizzou to make the trek to Jonesboro.
