Why not just promote him to HC or even interim HC? He runs the Same offense correct? He knows his brother's on the field scheme.
I dunno so I am just asking.

Yep, he's back. If he wants the job, and was in no way involved in Bobby's mess, then he should be seriously considered for the job at least on a one -year interim basis with the potential of earning permanent status depending on his performance.

Since arkansas will "hardly miss a beat" if paul takes over, does that automatically make him the 2nd best coach in the SEC?

He's still there if he chooses to be.
I wouldn't be opposed to him stepping in for the interim, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he left.

honeslty threw this entire thing you want to know what i found odd?

coach gets in a wreck, his younger brother who works with him, is a phone call away and doesn't bother to call him.

the FIRST person i would call if i was any type of real shite is my dad or my little brother.

you get in a wreck and the first person you call is your escort at football games lol

paul is one of the best WR coaches in the country bar none. he is very very good at what he does and is a good play caller. but he couldn't recruit a crackwhore to a dope house. horrible recruiter. that's his only real draw back.

It's not that simple. What sets offensive minded coaches apart is the decisions and play calling on game days.

Well Judging Petrino's recent "decisions" at games I think it's closer than you think

that kinda odd you would post that when DGB's family said Paul Petrino was the best recruiter they had in house and sold his program the best

Excerpt on Paul Petrino's time as Illinois' OC:

quote:

Petrino guided an Illini offense that broke school records for total points (423) and points per game (32.54) in 2010 and featured running back Mikel Leshoure, who broke the single-season school rushing record with 1,697 yards. Illinois averaged 42.1 points and 448.9 total yards over the last seven games of the season and notched a 38-14 win over Baylor in the 2010 Texas Bowl.

Petrino coached [Illinois receiver] A.J. Jenkins to one of the best seasons by a receiver in Illinois history, as Jenkins led the Big Ten with 90 catches. His 1,276 yards ranked second in school history, just two yards shy of the Illini record, and he also ranked in the top five of the school's lists for season receptions, season 100-yard receiving games, career receptions, career receiving yardage, career receiving touchdowns and career 100-yard receiving games.

Personally I thought that comment by DGB's parents made it sound like they thought that he came on to strong when he was hired and it turned the off.

I would too after reading-

quote:

The sources said Long has informed the coaching staff he would like to keep the assistants in place through the rest of spring practice and then open the coaching search too see what candidates are available

Bobby knew this was coming, Paul coming back from Illinois was part 1.

Bobby finding a way out so his brother can get the HC job at a major school was step 2.

Now to sign Paul, frickin Bobby is a kind kind man to his brother.

paul isn't going anywhere. he can't afford to take time off like his brother can. he makes 500k a year not 3.6 million a year. he will swallow his butt hurt pride and coach the shite out of the offense and most likely move on at the end of the year
