Just browsed the ESPN story and I did not know that we were playing baseball in USM's football stadium:

Hattiesburg
M.M. Roberts Stadium

Friday June 2

Game 2: No. 4 Illinois-Chicago (39-15) vs. No. 1 Southern Miss (48-14), 2 p.m. ESPN3

Game 1: No. 3 South Alabama (39-19) vs. No. 2 Mississippi State (36-24), 7 p.m. ESPN3

I guess the writers there do not do much research. FTR, they are playing at Pete Taylor Park. A nice but very small park (seating capacity around 4K plus SRO). You may be able cram 5K in there. With State and USA playing (and being very close by), crowds will be large this weekend.

Looks to be a competitive regional. Southern has had a great year. South AL is very good and ILC is no pushover either. You do not win your conference regular season and tournament without being a good club.

Gonna be a fun weekend. They aren't selling tickets to anyone outside the eagle club until tomorrow. It's going to be a full house all weekend

Don't feel too bad. State has been doing this all year. State was leading the West with only 1 weekend left. If Gordon can duplicate what he did against Florida, State will be alright.

I've watched a game in USM's ballpark before. It's pretty nice, although small.

Duplicate the game of his life in back to back weeks? No problem. What if Price and Self duplicate their efforts at Hoover?

Looking at the pic of the grandstand, it looks like the athletic department ran out of money to finish the pressbox.

"May can" makes no sense. Grammar Sieg Heil!

Sorry about the poor grammar
I usually pride myself on proper word usage.
The record crowd is around 5500 so it is small. It will be over that this weekend especially if State and USM play each other.

You can drink beer down the right field line and in the outfield too. Those poor right fielders and guys in the visitors bullpen are going to get an ear full. USM students and alumni will buy most of the tickets, these folks around here love USM baseball. I'm just looking forward to entertaining baseball as a neutral observer, and longing for the days when Alabama was playing postseason baseball. Rooker and Wallner will be in the show one day, hoping to see a clinic

Sold out an hour ago, now they're trying to figure out how to cram more people in

Tickets haven't even gone on sale to the general public yet

I thought it was nice that USM scheduled their game early so their fans could make it to Baton Rouge to watch LSU play their opener.

Then LSU elected to play the early game as well.

People getting tickets to the USM regional DGAF about LSU, every ticket sold has gone to USM donors...their students haven't even gotten a crack at tickets yet.

Why every host doesn't play the opening game is beyond me, gives the team more time to recover heading into Saturday

Doubt it. Almost every USM student/grad I know is an "LSU fan" that couldn't afford out of state tuition, so they went to Hattiesburg.
