Incorrect, WVU did 78 Million in sports revenue last year. That means you would be at the bottom of the SEC not the top. You would cost more to feed than you would produce so you would be an economic drag on the SEC. Aside from distance from ATL or BHAM (the "heart" of the SEC) thesis how you compare with the "product" of the SEC

Football - 2nd smallest stadium in the SEC (VU is smallest) and -0- MNC's
Basketball - small arena and 2 Final Fours (1959 and 2010), no a ringing endorsement
Baseball - smallest venue in the SEC and no CWS history
W Basketball - -0- NCAA Final Fours and no glowing attendance numbers
M Golf - just reinstated after being cancelled since 1982
Gymnastics - not Top 25 type program and no real fan support
Rifle - probably best sport but only UK (coed) and Ole Miss (female) have squads
Rowing - Not a factor and only Alabama and Tennessee have teams
M Soccer - Not a factor and only UK and SC have teams
W Soccer - not a greta team and not apparent fan support
M Swimming - not competitive
W Swimming - not competitive
W Tennis - not competitive
W Track - not competitive
Volleyball - not competitive
Wrestling - not competitive and only Missouri has a team
Equestrian - does not field team

Never finished higher that 30th in Directors Cup and that was prior to moving to the B12. In terms of overall sports, WVU is an anchor not a sail.

That is actually great! Those are all fixable and small problems to have. I don't see the weaknesses. They just need a little boost. I am telling you, you will regret passing on them.

Either you are blind, trolling, or a WVU fan posing as an Auburn fan to post appeals like this. In any event, it is just wasted pixels. Look at the size of the venues in the SEC and there is no way a small state can support such numbers, even if they went deep in debt to do so.

If WVU is so great they will still be around in a decade. In the meantime the more productive thing would be to work within your own fan boards to build the brand and control your own destiny than waste time here selling points to folks with no interest in buying.

PS, 50 Million in revenue shortfall each and every year is no small problem. How do you propose to close that 50 Million gap?

Really? AAU member with StL and KC TV markets, an all around good athletic department, and fans that won't burn your car in the parking lot vs. possibly the worst academic school in the P5, and a couch burning lot?

Physics dude. It doesn't work that way. Explain how someone fills a balloon to make a piss balloon.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

We've already got the SEC covered for couch burning, never fear.

Downside is that if we get WV, then there isn't a 50-states ranking list that we wouldn't own the last place spot when combined with Mississippi and Louisiana.

Virginia Tech owns the DC market followed by UVA and Maryland.
I would say if any one school "owns" the DC market, it'd be Maryland. College Park is metro accessible and within the beltway and they have a bigger following than VT and UVA here.

I don't need a link. My buddy from HS has a friend who's coworker's sorority sister was harassed and called a whore by LSU fans. And my older cousin's freshman roommate dated a girl who hooked up with a guy who had a piss balloon thrown at him in Baton Rouge.

I refuse to belive this post was made with a straight face.

We are all talking about Virginia Tech and the various North Carolina schools, but they are pretty much tied down for the moment as far as bargaining power goes. West Virginia needs A LOT of polish as far as getting into the SEC in the future... but they are a State school with a lot of raw...(very raw) potential. They fit every mold at this point except for the money-making aspect. If the SEC could change the perception of those guys and actually get them to buy into competing at a higher level (not only as a University, but also as an Athletic Department)...then I would welcome them with open arms. I just think that they are an option. And a very smart "buy" for the SEC if nothing else. Why not consider them?
The "money-making aspect" must be there to begin with before ANY team would be considered...if not, FSU would already be in play.

Good thought but no. WVU had their chance and their trash fanbase blew it. That has to have been one of the worse gameday experiences that I have ever been to (however the drive up and back was awesome). WVU fans make the gumps look like rich passengers from the Titanic. If we can't get a combo of VT, UNC, Duke, or NCST we should just stay at 14.
