Texas A&M was a smart move.
A UNC, Clemson, NC State, Va Tech, Miami or UVA would've been better move than Mizzou, but Mizzou didn't hurt us either.

Well we did add Texas A&M, so obviously little brothers are welcome.

How does that not make sense?
a) South Florida is still more Florida than Miami
b) Pro teams fracture and devalue it more
c) SEC already gets premium carriage rates in FL so Miami is overlap and cannibalistic
When you look at any expansion you have to ask 3 questions
#1 is the team being added in the Top 25% of the existing conference in revenue streams?
I doubt Miami is producing 75% of Alabama's 150+ Million per year in sports revenue which would be around 112 Million. Even if it was producing 76 Million per year(which I doubt) that would just be Ole Miss type numbers and they are in the bottom 25% of the SEC not the top
#2 is the team #1 in medium market states or #2 in huge states?
Texas A&M was #2 in huge Texas and Missouri was #1 in medium Missouri. At best Miami is #3 and may even be 4th or 5th behind USF and UCF
#3 is the team in a new market or just overlapping an existing one?
Miami offers no new market for the SEC that it does not already have.

UNC or UVA, yes, but again...they have to want to join and they don't. The rest no.
You don't have a good grasp of what drives expansion.

Good realignment is a good topic. The problem is 98% of these threads in the past 2 years have not fallen in that category. Just the same idiotic stuff repeated over and over.

Lots of hate in this thread, I'm not surprised. We earned our reputation over the years and that's our own fault. When we played in the big east we always were looked down upon as the poor and trash state by the NE teams, VT, Miami etc so of course we treated them terrible.
Would love to see all you guys be in a league with Northern teams and see how they look/treat you because we all know the North thinks so highly of the South....
But as stated, since the Big 12 we have had a culture change and we're better. Still need work but getting there.

The rest of the Big 12 looks down on you as well.
I really think yall are fricked if (when?) the Big 12 implodes. I just don't see a soft landing spot for you.

Anybody who suggests any current ACC team has no clue about realignment
#1) Realignment is not about expansion, it is about contraction. If you do not understand this basic premise you have no clue what realignment is all about.
#2) The SEC will not raid the ACC if it means such a raid will open up ACC schools to join the B1G. Think of the ACC as partners, not targets to be acquired.

WV is a great fit in the B12 except for being a gazillion miles away. Tech, Okie St, KState are probably all very similar. If WV goes anywhere it should be to the ACC after the SEC snags VTech and UNC.

Our Appalachian cousins.
Who make us look civil and tame.
Just something to think about.

UNC- Yes
Clemson- A second school in a small population state (where we already have one school) Outside of their little area of Greenville/Spartanburg Clemson has 0 fan representation in the rest of the state. Academics are average. USC in't going to vote for their main rival to join their conference. Nothing new in TV sets either.
NCST- already discussed
VT/UVA-yes. UNVA moresight because of academics alone.
Miami- Great academics (AAU). The administration however has let the UM football team fall by the wayside though, and that's unlikely to change. Regardless of what some might think Miami is still a small private school, where UF is the #1 option fan wise everywhere except the panhandle. No new TV sets. UF is not going to vote for Miami to enter.

you better hope the Big 12 expands. BYU desperately needs to be in a "Big Five" Conference and they could add U of Houston or Colorado State.

I'm all for VA Tech (vested interest) and NC State.
We no longer want UNC because they are damn academic cheaters...

Yall could have been a much better choice than NC State. You could have brought in a mega market:
But then this happened:
And yall ended up with a smaller chunk of the pie. Yall have done great given your resources and base, but the truth is we (inadvertantly) would prefer to be in the last two states in red on that map! That would put the SEC ahead of ALL conferences on money and exposure.
But I really really think yall will get a shot in the rebuilt ACC with old rivals kinda.

I disagree. I would take them in a heartbeat. They would be another Mississippi school...but with a new, and fresh perspective.
