Has the SEC taken a good hard look in the mirror lately?

I've been noticing a disturbing trend in college football logos/mascots in recent years. Many of the mascots, which probably includes yours, subliminally promote rape culture in our youth and especially the impressionable minds of certain fans and players. Rape culture, in case you were ignorant on the subject, is a term used to describe the normalization of sexual assault in our communities and society as a whole.

So, what does this have to do with a mascot? You tell me. Look at your mascot. Look at the eyes and the overall mannerisms, facial expressions, and tendency to hang out around cheerleaders. Look at the names for Christ sake!

Don't ignore the school colors, which are often used for a color-coded roofie system at frat parties.




Look at the eyes, they say "I WILL RAPE YOU!" and of course we can't ignore the phallic nature of the mascot's face literally thrusting up at our own faces.



Look at the menacing finger that serves as a warning, a precursor to what comes next. Just what is he planning to do with that finger? It's intimidating and shameful.



Not only does this mascot name itself after the male genitalia, but look at the way it is stalking her, about to pounce and commit an assault. Note the intent in the extremely aggressive posture towards the poor unsuspecting female.



Look at the eye, feel how it pierces right through your soul.



Focus on the facial expressions, often they are dripping with blood lust and intent to commit sexual assault.



What would a former rape victim have to say about this? Would it remind them of their attacker? It definitely would. And we wonder why football players rape girls when they can easily get them in bed with their shapely bodies and a bit of alcohol.

THE MASCOTS PROMOTE IT!

The mascots scream out "I AM GOING TO RAPE YOU!" and this establishes the rape mindset in the males and reminds the women victims to not wear skimpy clothing or speak out of turn.?? The end-game of this subliminal expression of a patriarchal old-world culture is one that produces roided out football players that submit the women to their will. And we wonder why women are paid less than men!!!

Is that the kind of thing you want your institution of higher learning to promote and condone? Ghondi always said to "be the change you want to see in the world". Is this something you approve of?

I urge you to write your athletic directors and demand some REAL change. A softer face. One that does not say "I want to violate you". ??
