Has the myth of Texas money buying whatever they want finally been debunked?

In the last 3 years Texas has had openings in each of the 3 major sports. In 2 of the 3 searches they have struck out on their main targets and been forced to hire down the line, less attractive candidates (though I think Strong could turn it around) and in the 3rd they hired a (very good) coach from a mid-major program. Texas baseball has now been turned down by the coaches at Florida, Oregon State and LSU.
With money everywhere now, especially in conferences like the SEC and Big Ten, is the whole theory that "Texas is richer than everyone and gets what they want" thing finally being done away with?

Doesn't help that their entire AD is a dumpster fire apart from basketball now with Shaka.

They have an entire network to themselves and they are still mediocre at best athletically across the board.

I remember hearing the same things about aTm coming into the sec

I dont think its been debunked. I think they have just been shot down and pay market rate for who they get.

You can add Louisville, Virginia, and it sounds like TCU too to that list of coaches at schools who have turned them down in baseball.

Any particular reason?
Mack Brown last 3 years which were deemed unacceptable.
2011: 8-5 (4-5), recruiting ranking of 3
2012: 9-4 (5-4), recruiting ranking of 2
2013: 8-5 (7-2), recruiting ranking of 20
Strong's 1st 2 years
2014: 6-7 (5-4), 20
2015: 5-7 (4-5), 9
2016: Vegas # @ 6.5, 13

Honestly? No, not really. I've always thought he was a pretty good coach and thought he did a solid job at Louisville. I didn't think he'd have Texas winning titles but I didn't think he'd be a career sub-.500 coach there, either.

Now in to the 9th option
quote:
Casey, who makes just under $1 million annually at OSU, is now the seventh coach who has either turned down overtures from Texas or preemptively pulled out of the race. The others are Louisville's Dan McDonnell, TCU's Jim Schlossnagle, Florida's Kevin O'Sullivan, Virginia's Brian O'Connor, Vanderbilt's Tim Corbin and Mainieri.

What if Jeremy Foley shows up as their AD next year?

And what if I win the lotto tomorrow.

Their AD is a clusterfrick, the faculty is more or less in line with Berkley, the administration is a snakepit of intrigue, Austin is a hipster haven, the boosters have Texas size egos and think they run the show and can run your program better than you, you compete with pro-sports in major markets all within a couple of hours away, the Big 12 is a disaster that is coming unglued...
What's not to like if you are a coach?

Texas makes LSU's AD/admin look competent. That's saying something.

People always want to talk about how Georgia does so little considering the state we are in.... but no one touches Texas when it comes to failing to tap into your potential.
All that money and a campus sitting in freaking AUSTIN of all places, and all they can muster is this...
2010: 5-7
2011: 8-5
2012: 9-4
2013: 8-5
2014: 6-7
2015: 5-7
They've only been ranked in the AP Top 25 in 24 of the last 93 installments.... cracking the Top 10 just one single week.
How can a program with all it has to offer muster just that in six seasons?

I agree. No one is paying $10 mil a year for a coach. You don't go THAT far outside the market. You just dont. You receive blowback in the community and God help you if the hire is a bust.

Reading their board shows their arrogance. They are still arrogant even though they have been rejected by lots of coaches.
