I have no dog in the LSU/UF reschedule debacle, but I just can't imagine Mike Slive letting this happen; he would have made a quick and decisive ruling within a couple days after the game was cancelled, imo.

I hope not.

The SEC needs the firm hand of a Yankee to keep the these hillbillies in line.

But really,

Sankey needs to find a solution that doesn't completely punish either school for the Hurricane.

LSU shouldn't be screwed over either, as much as the posters of this board would love it... The screwing needs to be done on the field

He will wear this like a scarlet letter the rest if his career. He is lucky if he is not fired.

Yes.

If he forces LSU, Florida or anyone else at this point to do something they are really against it can lead to a conference breakup. Too late leadership has to be timely, he had his chance and pooped the bed.

LSU or Florida are infinitely more valuable to the SEC than any commissioner ever will be, not to say an imcompetent just a few months into his tenure. Get rid of him. Now.

He's definitely shown that he has no backbone & no leadership skills. He sat back & let a seasoned AD run the show & now, after crawling out of his "safe space" & attempting to do something, albeit too late, he's getting stonewalled by another AD. It's clear that the AD's knew/know much more about his powers than he did/does. Foley drew a line in the sand & now Alleva is doing the same thing & basically telling Sankey "you can't do shite about it & im gonna do exactly what I want". It's been made clear that Sanky is NOT the alpha male in the SEC.

Meh, sec just has to make lsu & florida bowl inelligible if the game isn't played. End of story.

Do this and you get expensive Lawsuits, more shame and an eventual breakup just to keep a guy employed very few people even knew his name a few days before, Great idea, you should run the show.

and cost the conference more money? Sankey dropped the ball and everyone knows it. Foley pushed him around and now alleva has, and there's not a damn thing Sankey can do about it. He had his chance and lost it.

you mean a week before the game he would have made a decisive ruling. Game would have already been played as anyone with any sense knows it should have been.

Depends on if the SEC can get through 3-5 years without a big controversy. Then it will probably fade away a bit and not be such a mark against him.

BUT if something does happen relatively soon, we'll all be hearing "Sankey can't do anything right! Why do we bother keeping him around?"

This is all silly to pile on Stankey.

There was no reasonable way to have played the game last weekend with a Cat 5 hurricane barreling towards Florida. The idea that you could have safely planned on transporting a team to or from the state on short notice to move or reschedule the game denies the reality of the situation.

Joe Alleva has behaved poorly here with impolitical statements about what LSU will or won't do and bizarre asides about competitive advantages of off weeks and the like. Those are things to say behind closed doors as they diminsh LSU's legitimate scheduling concerns. Im not sure what exactly people expect Stankey to have done as he can't unilaterally make members do anything re scheduling on this.

Answer to your question is yes. This is his legacy. I don't know when he realized he screwed up by not forcing a Sunday or Monday game but you could tell in his voice when he was on the CBS game that he knew he had screwed up royally and had no options or at least no good options in front of him to solve it.

The longer removed we get from the cancelled game the less likely it will be played.

It is unfathomable to me that he allowed that conference call to end with 'postpone the game and we'll figure it out later'. To come out of that with no solution is insane. At some point he made a terrible miscalculation and now he is paying for it.
