Personally, and anecdotally, I think the SEC needs to reclaim dominance this year in the court of public opinion. I travel a lot to Denver, SLC, Raleigh, and DC. Things have changed.

Not that it matters, but 2-6 years ago there was no question who was king.

OSU is king now. Bama was whipped 2 years straight in bowls, LSU has collapsed, Florida plays ECU in post season, auburn looked like fluke.

There have been unrealistic expectations and standards, but so many love to see SEC fail. I'd love to see the league reclaim dominance.

I don't think the SEC has slipped very far. 7 straight NCs then Auburn in the NC game and Alabama in the first playoff. I'd say the conference's big boys are still feared by everybody.

I don't care because Alabama pretty much IS the SEC these.

Does it matter? Respect is earned on the field. The SEC has done its due and propers over the last decade. If someone from the "public" decides that only winning 7 of the last 9 NCs isn't respectable, that person's opinion can and should be laughed at as insultingly as possible. And that's not even getting into the conference record OOC and in bowl games overall.

Well, since the 14-team modern era has begun, Missouri has won the East the past two years and Texas A&M has the 2nd best W-L record in the West, so maybe.

In just asking. No, doesn't matter.

I hear a lot of credit taken away because lack of playoff, and how Bama and FSU would have played this year, do what about other years?

I think it's silly, but in my experience things have changed, just wondering if others have experienced anything similar

Well, I haven't heard any lack of respect in Michigan or North Carolina (including Raleigh), but maybe people are too afraid of Vanderbilt to openly show disrespect around me.

I live in State College PA. They all think we buy the best players and only play in favorable weather and geographic locations. . .

So it has not really changed here.

Everyone I talk to in southern California thinks the pac12 is the toughest conference now. Obviously they are homer just as we are, but there isn't a huge argument to be made there. Well, except for the fact that the sec has won 7 of the last 9 natties and they've won zero. Of course they throw in that we've lost the last 2

Er...didn't Bama just play there a few years ago? Did they miss it because they were too busy covering up their coaches' peccadilloes?

Granted, all SEC teams do buy the best players. Why other conferences only buy the second-tier players, I'll never understand.
