I was talking to a buddy of mine about John Cohen having two former assistants now as head coaches in the SEC. Butch Thompson at Auburn and Nick Mingione at Kentucky as well as Lane Burroughs the new HC st Louisiana Tech. My buddy, an Ole Miss fan noted that Mike Bianco has groomed Dan McDonald at Louisville and Cliff Godwin at East Carolina.

We got to thinking why hasn't Paul Mainieri had any assistants get head jobs in his tenure at LSU? I know a few years back LSU fans hated the 3B coach Javi something and if I'm not mistaken they parted ways.

With the level of the baseball program at LSU one would think schools would look to LSU assistants as good candidates for head coaching jobs.

CPM's former player Blake Dean is now the head coach @ UNO and longtime assistant Will Davis is now the head coach At Lamar University.

Turtle Thomas coached under Skip, not CPM

What does that matter? And I clearly stated "at Notre Dame".

In my title to the thread I stated AT LSU. The Lsu poster answered my question with his post about the Lamar HC

And?

What's the point of the subtle brag if he's produced an assistant that has won a national title? Regardless if it was at another school.

Not sure, but he did produce a College World Series championship before any of those guys...so he has that going for him.

Also, you do realize Godwin was at LSU before he was at Ole Miss? Terry Rooney also went on to be a head coach at CFU.

Dumb thread, football can't get here fast enough.

Cannizaro will be.
Terry Rooney was at UCF until he took bama pitching coach
Dunn has had opportunities, he wants to stay as assistant, doesn't want all the extras that come with being head coach.
Godwin left LSU with Rooney and became head coach

Alan Dunn will NOT be a head coach. And this is because he doesn't want to be one.

So the answer was in his post, and he didn't even know it. Poor effort.

I'm also not sure that OP knows who O'connor at Virginia is.
