We try to schedule real team's to prepare us for conference. Instead of trying to rack up wins for a meaningless streak that means nothing once conference starts

Winning 20 in a row is rare based on odds alone, regardless of conference action or not.

If you think a 20-game win streak is not difficult to achieve, then you don't know much about the game of baseball (college or professional) or probability. Baseball isn't like football, where the better team pretty much always wins. There is a lot of randomness in the game, which is why, in MLB, winning 60% of your games gives you the best record most seasons. The quality of competition is less consistent at the college level, but if you assume a team has an 80% probability of winning each individual game, the probability of a 20-game win streak is still less than 1%.
I don't believe Mizzou should be lauded for their 20-game win streak. It was a nice little accomplishment, but acting like it was nothing is taking it to an absurd opposite extreme.
