Not SEC, but at one time USC had Mark McGwire, Randy Johnson, and Jack Del Rio.

The best team that didn't win a title. The day of the life as a Mississippi State fan.

Cool, I Figured no SEC team could match that. McGwire & Johnson together are a nice match. I didn't know del rio played baseball. Either way, doesn't match that 85' State team.

The Texas team with Roger Clemens who won the title in the early 80's was a monster which featured 8 future major leaguers

The Sad thing is all these stars were on the same team and couldn't even make it to the finals at Omaha.

Tied for 3rd. Lost on a walk off HR in B9 with Bobby Thigpen on the mound. Greg Ellena (non-starter, yet tournament MVP) parked one for the would be champions; Miami Hurricanes.

No team comes even close to that 1983 UT team.

1983
Notable Players.

University of Alabama: Dave Magadan, Craig Shipley
Arizona State University: Chris Beasley, Barry Bonds, Doug Henry, Oddibe McDowell, Don Wakamatsu
James Madison University:
University of Maine: Bill Swift
University of Michigan: Scott Kamieniecki, Barry Larkin, Chris Sabo, Gary Wayne
Oklahoma State University: Carlos Diaz, John Farrell, Gary Green, Mike Henneman, Pete Incaviglia, Robbie Wine
Stanford University: Mike Aldrete, Jeff Ballard, Mark Davis, Pete Stanicek
University of Texas at Austin: Billy Bates, Mike Brumley, Mike Capel, Roger Clemens, Jeff Hearron, Bruce Ruffin, Calvin Schiraldi, Jose Tolentino

Clemens beat Bama 4-3 in the final. Bama eliminated Arizona State and Barry Bonds to get to the final.

The best of the four UT pitchers, all of which pitched later in MLB, was Calvin Schiraldi who was the MVP of the CWS. Clemens was not even on the All Tournament Team.

What qualifies as a star?

LSUs 2012 team already has 4 big leaguers from the pitching staff.

Dave Magadan was a sight to see in the SEC Tournament; also Fermin Lake.
