Great in the 60s and 70s, but is this the most dominant era of Alabama football ever? I hate to say it, but I believe so.

Edit: the competition now is stiffer than it was back then, I believe.

It's the only time we've nationally been universally viewed as the best program in the country for going on a decade, yea.

We were great in the 70s, but we weren't the only ones. There is no doubt right now. And the CFB world is incredibly more difficult to navigate than it was then.

What's impressive is the dominance without an elite QB

FIFY

Honestly I don't know, but it would be hard to imagine. 4 in 7 years with no sign of slowing down...

Non NC seasons since 08:
08: 12-0 regular season loss to NC UF in SECCG
10: 10-3, destroyed Mich St in bowl
13: Kick 6 away from possible title
14: Playoff berth
^ the "bad" seasons are good enough to get you a blank check from almost all Power 5 programs

It's almost like playing dynasty mode on NCAA back in the day when you are 10 seasons in with 90+ stacked at every position and no one can beat you. It almost gets boring

But then again Saban has 7 million reasons a year to not be satisfied yet

Saban so bored he's been taking on coaches to rehabilitate as a side job.

I think it's the reason we are dominate. Producing great QB's over and over and over is not easy, and our system doesn't require it.

Maybe at the national level, but Bama was much more dominant within the conference in the 70s than they are now. From 1971-1981, Alabama had a total of 4 conference losses and they won 9 conference titles.

If there'd been a BCS or CFP in the 70's, the Bear might have been able to win a couple more NCs, could've lost a couple that he won as well. I was a kid back then but Bama was always in the mix for titles, much like we've been the last few years.

With the parity and media coverage that's out there now for CFB, I'd have to say this is the most dominant era for us. Never thought I'd see anything to rival or surpass the 70's ever again from Bama, or any team for that matter. But here we are.

Given that CFB is more deep and talented across the board now, the Bama run under Saban (08-present) is by far the most dominant stretch we've ever had.

The 70's of course was completely ridiculous but the SEC and college football in general was much less treacherous back then.

No doubt, just making the comparison to how it feels so unrealistic even in a video game it gets boring. And here Saban is doing it in real life

I guess the juxtaposition of that statement would be, "Dude, it was Wisconsin."
