I would think the crowd noise may make it difficult for him to hear Gus' dictated play calls when he's on the field so this will help.

I knew I could count of Gus to figure out this mess. That's all it'll take...for the O-Line to start blocking, for Stidham to be cured of his severe PTSD by the perfect therapy dog, for Pettway to trade in his concrete shoes. I'm back on the Gus Bus fo sho.

This was obviously the OC's choice. All the Auburn fans said Gus was letting the OC do what he wanted.
