SEC Network analyst and former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy didn't mince words on Tuesday when asked about Jalen Hurd's decision to leave the Tennessee football program and pursue options elsewhere.

McElroy believes Hurd's NFL stock will take a tremendous hit due to character flaws.

“I’ll say this about the Jalen Hurd situation, same thing I said about (Alabama quarterback) Blake Barnett, it’s ridiculous to leave your team at this point,” McElroy said on SiriusXM. "If Tennessee’s 7-1 or 8-0, will he still be a member? Absolutely. It’s selfish. By all accounts, this kid is all about the NFL. It’s all he cares about.

"I can tell you one thing, when he’s getting evaluated by front office personnel, there will be a massive red flag next to his name, knowing that when things got a little tough and Tennessee lost three straight, he decided to walk out on his team. What does that tell you about his character and his competitive spirit? He’s going to forever be remembered as a quitter.”
