As we look back fondly on the Miles era at LSU, it made me think of all the great hires the tigahs have made over the years. Given it's A&M week, I thought a reflection on one of the true greats, Fightin' Texas Aggie Curley Hallman, was in order
Most already know and appreciate Curley Hallman for his many achievements towards LSU football. But many don't know how intertwined his entire life was with the SEC in general
did you know?
- played defensive back for Gene Stallings at Texas A&M
- is from near* Tuscaloosa Alabama and always wanted to play for the Bear
- began his coaching career as an assistant to Bryant at Alabama from 73-76 where he won 9 MNCs in his 4 years there
- in 1983, he came home to momma and coached under Jackie Sherrill at Texas A&M where his role included bulk trans am purchases
- in 1991 he was named head coach at the Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College (better known as LSU to you non-literate fricks)
- in his time at LSU, Curley compiled an 0-4 record vs his alma mater and 1-3 vs his long-favored Tide
- in 1994, he was inexplicably canned in favor of....Gerry fricking Dinardo???
- his oldest grandson entered LSU as a freshman this year and is a volunteer assistant to Miles
- Johnny Football's fake ID used the name Curley Hallman
I'd like to take a moment to appreciate the first, and still the best, Aggy troll of all time, Curley Hallman '70
* edited for the very detail oriented Bama crowd

Dude was kicked out of his house by the wife and slept many nights on the couch inside Tiger Stadium...Greatest saying by Hallman at a practice...said "men, women are like fire water".

I heard Curley took a dump in the Reveille cemetery.

So he had a better record against Bama in his last four games against them than Les does?
Curly 1-3
Les 0-4
Bring him back...

Honestly Curley was just misunderstood, He put Dinardo in a position to succeed but it wasn't until Saban showed up that ULSU was able to capitalize on the groundwork he laid

Thanks for that. The bile tastes just like it did in 1992.

Aggie fans should know that CLM is average. He was 2-2 vs you in the Big 12 South. He has outright owned Aggie at LSU

Another good one from him...
His rants to the offense lineman during practice were great..."MOVE YOUR FEET AND BUMP...BUMP...BUMP"

Yea, but he shares the same 1-2 record against Arkansas as Les in his last 3 games.
