That is why UMiss is having a tough season... The delusion is real.

God must really love Hugh Freeze. Find a God-honoring character in the Bible who lived an uninterrupted life of bliss and prosperity. You can’t. God’s love does not equal prosperity. In fact, it’s the opposite. Moses wandered the desert for 40 years. David was chased into caves and his own son tried to kill him. Jesus died on a cross. The apostle Paul and the other apostles were beaten countless times and killed as martyrs or died in desolation. I’ve heard it said that those whom God loves the most, suffer. And there’s no better example of that in college football than Hugh Freeze and Ole Miss. Freeze tries to do everything right. He sends an encouraging Tweet every day. He shares the gospel with his team and incorporates it into his talks with media and alumni. He’s even preached at churches. Freeze has spent the last four and a half years doing what he said he would — using his platform to try to bring honor to God. And for the first four seasons of his career at Ole Miss it looked like he was reaping the reward for his God honoring ways. The Rebels won with questionable talent in 2012, and improved each season thereafter culminating in a Sugar Bowl at the end of the 2015 season. The Rebels were considered Playoff contenders this year, and were on the cusp of a Top 10 ranking. Freeze and his $4 million a year contract was a shining example of what it looks like to be blessed. But the Bible doesn’t promise prosperity or SEC Championships.
