Dude had to switch from safety to linebacker because he couldn't cover. He's obviously a bigger "safety" and he's always been a very good tackler. He fits well at weak-side linebacker.

Your insecurities are showing, though.

That's awesome. Interesting how this will play out. He got playing time because Ogletree was injured. Obviously when you pay him this kind of $ he will be playing a lot though.

For those that don't know he failed so miserably in Tampa Bay because of a scheme change. Schiano drafted him and then Lovie Smith took over a year later who uses the Tampa 2 defense where the safetys drop back a lot. Which definitely doesn't fit his skill set. Which is why he got traded.

Now with the Rams he gets used correctly and is a beast.

It's a great example of how important scheme fit is.

watch the NFL. he was our best linebacker last year. At this point I'd take him over Alec ogletree.

He was all over the place, Safety with an LB body.

But now, FRICK the Rams

mark barron was one of the best college safeties I ever watched play. It made my heart hurt the play against auburn where he went for the pic, tore his pec (or felt the effects of where it had already been torn) and the pass went for 6. You know he felt like shite for that even though there was nothing he could have done.

He just wasnt the right size for safety in the NFL.

clearly you don't watch many games that don't involve Alabama. He was a great player in college, but pump the brakes

He needs to cut a check Ogletree and Laurinaitis. All things considered, its a really bad move by the Rams. I suspect he'll be cut after the second year.

Hopefully Gurley and that D-Line can keep this team competitive.

Yeah, he failed because he couldn't cover.

As someone mentioned earlier, Mark Barron was playing safety for the St Louis Rams before Alec Ogletree got hurt. Therefore, Mark Barron switched to weak-side linebacker and lit it up.

Yep that's what I was implying. He played kind of ss/lb hybrid.

He was one of my favorite players at Bama.

He was an amazing college safety and I have seen very few better, and yes, I watch quite a bit outside of alabama

Nonsense, in the first handful of posts we have Auburn, Georgia, LSU, and Missouri fans sharing their Mark Barron musings. Why do you want to deprive them of that?

because it reminds him of how much Mark abused his tigers while at alabama.

Bruh, i like you, but I'm not seeing the negative here. He was good enough to fool NFL GMs to thinking he was an NFL safety (and his 40 was fast enough to justify 1st round pick based on his college results), but also athletic enough to change positions and sign a $45M 2nd contract.

Sounds like a success story to me. And he was without a question the best LB the Rams had last year. He was every - freaking - where.
