I can't help but think every year mark richt underachieves. Since geoegia is my second favorite in the sec (I like the muaic scene there) I figured I'd ask yall.

My question is if mark richt is as successful as he is because he's at Georgia or is georgia this successful because of mark richt?

Georgia was worse before Richt came in and got them to mediocrity.

Averaging almost 10 wins a season is a little better than mediocrity.

Sure, but then it is dragged back down by the losses to Colorado, Boise, UCF, etc.

The problem is that Georgia before Mark Richt was pretty shitty.

People don't want to get rid of Richt because they believe there's a good chance that we might go back to that shittyness-level if Richt gets canned.

Also...the whole winning about 10 games a year is helping him.

My take is that Mark Richt is a very good coach and we will be in the SECCG hunt with him at the helm in most years; however - we prolly won't win an NC.

I started to formulate a response, put my fingers on the keyboard, then was just like "nah, frick it". Back button.

Yeah, did the same thing with DD's response. Tired debate that's no longer worth discussing.

To be fair, there were two years UGA had a shot at the end of the season, but things didn't work out to get them in the game. I won't say he could never win a title there.

I think the sentiment is he is destined to never win the title, not that the possibility is not there

What's this? A logical response? You've forgotten where you're at good sir. Only trash talking and shitty trolls are allowed on the board.

Oh I agree. we came close multiple times and the possibility is always there...but I doubt it will happen.

Hope I'm wrong though :)

FWIW, UGA is almost a different school since Richt arrived. The HOPE scholarship has taken UGA from a football school to a legitimately good university. Metro Atlanta has totally changed the type of kid who goes to UGA now. Georgia has become a far more prominent state, and accordingly, UGA has a lot more to work with than before.

Richt has underachieved, but on the basis of what has developed since he arrived (part of which he oversaw).

but is that because he's getting yall there or is georgia an established enough program to do this well with other coaches

Well, we weren't doing it before he got here...

That's not to say another coach can't come in here and replicate it or do even better.

I'm sure there are other coaches that would be just as successful, but the real question is do you really want to take that chance. Didn't work out that well for Tennessee.
